Default Engine builders in NC?

I have my RB block all torn down and am ordering my pistons and all of my bearings early next week, so once those are in I am going to be needing to have my cylinders bored, my block/head decked and cleaned, my crank and cams micropolished, and my rotating assemly balanced.....yet I don't know of any shops that I can trust to do all of this correctly the first time. So, if anyone knows of any engine machine shops who could help me I would most appreciate the info. The closer to Hickory or Raleigh it is the better. Thanks.

This is probably too far for you, but I've got a guy in Jacksonville that has built 2 motors for me and does an excellent job. The name of the shop is P&M Race Engines and his phone number is 910-324-4911

Perry does real good work. The only problem can sometimes be time because he's so busy. He builds engines for a number of race teams and they keep him pretty busy.

Thanks just talked to Joe at handcraftedracing (HRT) on the phone this morning, seems like a nice guy. I still don't have all the necessary parts to get it machined, so I will probably just stop in and have a look at the shop and everything.

If anyone has any other suggestions it would be most helpful.

If you have custom machine work to be done as well as a custom Build up, I'd go to Racesports performance engines and talk to Dennis Shaw. He is at:
8613 Barefoot industrial Rd. phone 919 272-4107
Raleigh NC 27617

He's a little pricey, but does GREAT work.

Dave at Krause and England
8613 Barefoot Industrial Rd.
Raleigh, NC 27617
(919) 781-1871
does great work and does almost all the E36 Spec motors and ITS cars in the area.

Rex at Happy Japs
233 E Johnson St # 233
Cary, NC 27513
(919) 467-2884
specializes in Nissan/Datsun work and has a great reputation and I have had nothing but good work done by him. He's also a perfomance engine builder and racer himself.

Cylinder Head Specialties
919-556-0775
10820 Star Rd
Wake Forest NC 27587-4153
does great machine work.

I haven't worked with Tunner Solutions, but they have a good reputation.
8805 Running Oak Dr # A
Raleigh, NC 27617

Hey man, if you lived around here i'd definately point you toward the right direction. DEFINATELY do some research and find a reliable/good word-of-mouth place. Good luck.

Thanks man...I think that Handcrafted Racing (HRT) is where I am going to be looking at first. I have heard another 2 people who have said they have had good experience with them. So sometime next week I will probably drive to their shop and talk to them in person about my plans which I think I have now finalized.

In case you are interested...
-CP Pistons (8.5:1 Compression; 86.5mm Bore)
-Stock Rods (possibly shot peened)
-ARP Rod Bolts
-ARP Head Studs
-Nismo Bearings (possibly calico coated)
-Bore, hone, deck, balance engine
-Modify RB26 Oil pan rather than using my RB25 oil pan
-Tomei Oil Pan Baffle and Oil Orifices
-N1 or Jun Oil Pump
-XS Engineering Valve Guides
-Stock rest of valve train and cams (for now)
-deck head, dissasemble and clean, replace valve seals

Thats the way it looks right now...the "or's" are pretty much based on funds.

Wow, looks like it is coming along, game plan is in full swing. I am curious though, what power levels are you expecting, or rather hoping for?

Wow.. That's my except same setup. Including the small details like the Tomei oil orface and XS valve guides!

Oh and Nengun is a green light to order. I should be getting my package in about a week and got tracking info provided by JPS.

Good luck!

Thats crazy man...great minds think alike I guess. Nengun is awesome. I am probably ordering the pistons/guides/bearings/rod bolts/headstuds next friday when the next paycheck rolls in.

I am looking for somewhere between 550-600 whp on pump gas. Still not completely decided on the turbo yet, but I might be scrapping my GT35R plans for something that isn't running out of steam at those power levels.

And Craig don't worry, I haven't forgotten about the wastegate dumps, It's just been hectic around here the past week. I'll let you know soon.

Man, I am much more excited for you, than I am about the wastegate dumps. I am in no hurry at all, just keep me/us posted on your progress.

A gt42r, would most definately suffice, lol. I would say anyway you look at it, the car will be incredible.
