Funny, as soon as you land in Narita Airport, the Japanese will take out their hi-tech cell phones to make a call, and you're like WTF

As for the cars, believe it or not, didnt see too many hooked up cars out there at all. The only night that I saw the place swarmed with them was when we were in Electric Town. I'll post them up when I get home.

To my knowledge, from what people told me, the real racing scene was on the mainland, in Akina and Akagi. People told me that over there, people were like drift nuts on the mountain passes, lol.
Akina Mountain, Initial D is not just an anime

Hey Mark, i don't think you mentioned it, but any particular reason (besides shear awesomeness) why you guys chose to go to Japan? Or was it you guys just wanted to go visit and booked it?

Hahaha. Don't travel all the time but its one of those places you have to visit. There's soo much in Japan that we definitely have to take another trip.

Jeff, it really depends on the season and where you end up staying.
The flight itself can cost you around $1500, let's say you stay a week at a hotel during low season avg. around $150-200 depending on the area x 7, you're looking at a minimum of $2500 just to be there, add transportation/meals/entertainment etc.
Not sure how much the hostels are, i'm sure they are cheaper.

I'm sure Mark can give you a better $ figure since he went recently, last time I went was 1997 LOL, I ended up staying with my family though.

I guess it all comes down to where you stay and when you go. We got a SUPER deal on plane tickets. We all brought different amounts of cash, I brought like $1800, my brother brought like $2000 i think, i think alvaro brought $1000 and same with Christian. We spent alot but not everything, I came back with like 1/2 the money that I brought with me.

Honestly, I'd say stay in the hostels instead of hotels, that was my first hostel experience and honestly, im sold. From now on, when ever i do country trips like this, I'll be using hostels instead of hotels. The interaction with all the other people there cannot be beat! We met so many people that we still talk to today.

Pricing also depends on the place you stay in as well, We stayed in the Asakusa ward area, the hostel that we stayed at (Sakura Hostel), was pretty cheap, I think it was like 2500 yen a night or something. The rooms were nice and clean, so were the bathrooms, and it was excellent living conditions in my opinion. I had enough money to stay there for a month.

Wow, that's less than $200 for the whole week!

I would say to plan to spend around $2000 just for flight/hotel, and an additional $1000 to spend while you are there, +/-.

The fellas got a good deal on their plane tickets thru one my cousins who works for Continental. They paid like $700-$750. Like Mark said, hostel was cheap. For 10-or 11 days came out to $300. Cant wait to take another trip back.

GT47R - np

Jun - that should be about right. be careful though. I just read a report that a group of Japanese over in Roppongi are drugging tourists (primarily americans, lol) and robbing them. Keep in mind though, if you're not asian..... you will REALLY stick out on the trains, lol. its got something to do with that whole gaijin thing. (not necessarily a bad thing though )
