Default Wrecked the Z...

For those who remember me with the Le Mans Z from this past gainesville meet, well today I hydroplaned in some wicked weather going towards Jacksonville and hit the guard rail doing about 60. Thank god no one else was involved but all I walked away with was a hurt wrist. Side air bags deployed though..

Honestly I want people's opinion...you think this car is fixable? or is it just going to be a write off and get totaled?

Also if they do write it off, may I take my aftermarket parts off the vehicle before they take it back? exam. HKS exhaust, nismo intake, etc.

here are some pics...

I see front bumper, headlight, fender, hood, door, sideskirt, rear quarter, taillight, rear bumper, front wheel is done... The front looks pretty bad, did it push anything over in the engine bay? Was it still running fine?

That's a lot of work for an 03.. especially when dealing with the quarter panel I hear it's really labor intensive with the welding and such. How many miles? Also depends on how hard the front hit whether it knocked anything or bent anything... I say your looking at 4-5k in body parts alone before paint, if you are getting them replaced that is, which I would demand. Idk, good luck and let us know how it goes...

edit:: Good luck with grabbing your parts... I would suggest doing it ASAP, where did you take the car? Grab your exhaust and **** and head over to the garage and start replacing before the insurance takes a look at it. That is if the garage will let you, sometimes the ins. co won't let you touch it, replace your radio and that kind of easy stuff too if you got one.

Sucks , I'm moving to Dayonta next week and now there's one less up there... at least your okay man. If I'm not mistaken cant you replace your aftermarket parts with stock and they should have no problem? Or pull the aftermarket and just like leave the stock stuff in the car?

Sorry to hear. As mentioned that is a lot of damage for an 03 not to be totaled, if it was an 07 or 08 maybe.

As for aftermarket parts, on a previous car I had, the insurance let me take them as long as I replaced them with the stock parts.

When I friend of mine wrecked his G, he told his insurance guy that he wanted to take his aftermarket parts off. The guy was fine with it, so long as they left a suitable replacement in place. Be straight with your insurance guy and he'll probably let you get your parts off the car with no issue.

Damn dude that blows. We got a bit of that same weather down here. I did some hydroplaning myself. Luckily no guardrails though. Hopefully things work out for you.

WoW.

Im glad to head that you are OK. Not everyone have the same blessing.

This morning, just 1 hour ago; 8:20AM, I was on my way to work. I was on 75 S ramp entering the Turnpike. When I look to the side of the road I see a BMW... then I notice that the car started smoking.. I pull to the side and notice there was someone in the car.. I ran to the car, I was the first there. It was a man that lost control and hit a palm tree.. The drivers door had his legs trapped. I stayed there until paramedics showed up. They had to cut off the top of the car to take the guy out. He had to be air lifted.

It just shows how fragile life is. One day we are here the next day we are gone...

no freaking way bro! glad to hear you are ok. i know how it feels to lose a car so dont feel too down. now just take your time and figure out the best way to move on. from all the damage and the airbags, it will probably be close to totaled with the value of the car being so low. either try and get insurance to cover your mods if you have the coverage or swap them out for stock parts if they allow it. best of luck with your search for a new z if it comes to that.

To the OP, glad ur ok. I work for an ins company and we will definitely let u take ur aftermarket parts back as long as we get the oem parts back in. If not we would have to deduct it from the value of the car.

To Ricky, that accident is crazy. When I first started college at FIU, I also hydroplaned on that same curve. Was able to straighten it out just before getting to those palm trees.

well all in all it was a great one everybody. they decided to total it out. taking aftermarket parts off, if anyone wants hks exhaust, aps pulleys, nismo intake, z1 motorsports plenum spacer let me know. it does have brembos, if someone wants to do all the labor of taking them off and putting the stock ones back on then they can have them for a good price. pm me if interested.

thanks to woady for the awesome meets and all. went with a different route but stayed in the nissan game and got back into a S-chassis.
s14 sr'd. Will eventually comeback with either a nismo or another z. Thanks everyone else.

Laterz.
