whew, i'm so glad you stopped reading good advice from a responsible adult. I would have hated you to actually save up for your future and be able to pay all your own medical bills or possibly a future family.

Lol, your advise is not welcome here.

Cars are more important than financial security, owning a home, retirement, health, providing for yourself and your family...

1. The car should not be a priority to you now.
2. Get training and a job in a skilled trade. You will never get anywhere on $10/hour jobs.
3. If your passion is college . . . . It must be your #1 goal and EVERYTHING else not as important.

Good luck.

I appreciate that time you guys put forth and thought. I really do, I just wish I had someone to just talk to and get more of a personal input with someone that may be or used to be in a similar situation. Instead, I got a lot of do this or do that, and don't do this and don't do that. Not to mention, I got flamed b/c I have a Z and I'm only 20 years old? Wtf? At the time, I could afford it, now.. things have changed. Yes, maybe selling the car is the only option is a worst case scenario, but sheesh, I didn't think that my most popular thread was a bunch of flaming at each other, me, and a bunch of people just telling me what to do. If you care, message me and let's TALK... NOT LECTURE. But all in all, thanks for taking your time and giving me your input. At least I know where to go for SOME advice.

Dude... sell it. I was in your same position before I got my current job and I make 5x's now what I made when I originally bought the car. Simply said... to save money.. you need money. In retrospect, I could've lived a lot better and had more fun if I didn't have the Z when I originally bought it. I'm not lecturing you but a car is just a car, I love my Z but if something happened... it'd be the first thing to go.

Sounds like you want a hug and are asking a room full of guys. LOL

I'm not so sure your age really matters. I bought my Z brand new right after I graduated college at 23 back in '05. I didn't get flamed at all since many 1st owners on here bought their cars in their early 20s.

So with that being said, you asked for advice, there have been many great logical and smart advice given in this thread. You just choose not to listen or apply it. I have been there, I worked hard and got myself through school AND THEN bought the car I wanted. Most comments have been the same or similar. Basically - get your ish together then buy the car.

You're just trying to do it backwards and prefer a car over more important future planning. Why struggle with life to keep a car?

I never had a car during my school/college days. Only bought my own Z after I got a real, proper paying job. Patience pays off man.

Owning the Z while you're financially unstable is a bad move because your car expenses will never stop after it's been paid for. You will likely start modifying it and the car will turn into a moneypit.

Make sure you set your other basic needs straight before getting the "car of your dreams". If situation get really nasty, just sell the Z. Get another one later on. There's plenty of Z's out there.

Just my little advice man.

Go get a job as a servers assistant (its a bus boy in nice restaurants) and you can make more than $10 an hour, plus you can easily have a second day job if need be. Restaurants are always hiring SAs.. because its hard work but decent pay for someone your age.

When you are 21, move to barback. Make more money. Learn the bar. Go to school during the day (college). Within 6 months, push for a shitty bartending shift. Work hard. Learn. Still go to school. Get more bar shifts... get hired as a bartender and make a TON more money. Finish school. Start entry level job, make $40k. Keep bartending- another $20k part time. Afford Z.

I lived the good life with that formula since I got out of the military at age 23, up until I started making real money in my current career. You can get hired for this position, you can increase/decrease hours depending on school, and if you have a good work ethic, you'll likely enjoy it.
