Default Any accountants in FL?

Hi all. Right now I live in NY and an working at an accounting firm in NYC but my plan is to move to FL in the next few years with my future wife. The big thing I hear about is the bad job market, but I feel professionals (im currently preparing for the CPA) should be able to get a job anywhere. I am thinking around Boca Raton area.

Any insight would be great, on jobs, on life in that area.

Basically, NYC is too crazy for me, as I get stressed very easily. Since I was a teen I always knew I wanted to move to FL and live a happy life there.

Thanks!

Used to work for an accounting firm in Orlando, FL. Great firm but worked there while getting my accounting degree. I know its not Boca but it could be a start as they are very friendly and could possibly refer you a firm down in Boca. PM me if you want more details on who to talk to. Also McGladrey and Pullen LLP is one of the largest accounting firms in Orlando, I would check them out as well.

That sounds awesome, Orlando is not really on my map currently, but that might change in the future. I actually applied to McGladrey and Pullen LLP in there NY office right before I got this job, so I will def look at them in FL.

Currently I am working at a firm with about 90 people so I am still not sure whether I should shoot for the big 4 or stay with a smaller firm. I am very happy in the size firm I am at now, the only problem is that I do not see that much room for growth, so I am not sure if that is with all smaller firms. What is the name of the firm he/she is working at?

Also, I am getting different answers but some say the CPA is nationwide, but some say that there are certain restrictions in certain states, such as hours not carrying over and stuff. Have either of you heard this? I would like to finish my CPA next year and Florida is looking more like about 2-3 years from now (depending on when I buy my girlfriend the ring, dun dun dun (scary music) ! )

I just passed the CPA exam this past summer here in NY. From what i understand, there has been a reciprocal agreement amongst most states. This agreement states that being certified in one state, grants you certification in most states with the correct application or registration filed in those states. Florida and NY are two of the reciprocal states and you shouldn't have a problem. To be 100% sure, i would contact the Florida professional licensing department (link here) and talk to someone in the know. You could also contact the office of professions here in NY.
