oh ****. i thought you were bragging about your shifter and joking about needing help. i didn't think it involved all that much. two locking wrenches, huh?

well, i make no guarantees about my machanical abilities, or our chances of accomplishing the task, but my mileage isn't quite high enough yet and gas is cheap these days, right? i never pass up a chance to break stuff on other people's cars j/k

I'm gonna hit the lake and get my wake board on in the morning. it'll take me a while to get there. what time you thinking, 3ish?

locking wrenches? nope. i don't know that you'd want to take a wrench or vise grip to the top of that shifter, either. i wouldn't think it would unscrew that hard. the console should come up pretty easy with a flat blade screwdriver or something. the bottom of the shifter's gonna be out of sight, so latch on to that mug with some vise grips or a wrench... then just get your paw on the top of that thing and give it a crank.

but like i said, don't take my word on all that. hey by the way, mine's an '04 LA touring too. 5AT though, otherwise i'd go out and check this out and we'd KNOW if it could be done.
