question for ya , i need to change my oil.(of course no biggie) but alot of the revup folk are having oil issues. I noticed alot of them are also running 5w30 syn. I would be going 10w30 Rp or mobile 1 synth tommrow. But i wondered if i will have the consumption issue, and dont wanna be accountable for a issue due to aftermarket oil being used. I did test my Zs consumption but im uising stock oil. Just dont wanna change it and have my Z burning quarts. Otherwise from ur expirence is this common for revups to be in the bay due to consumption issues. ??? Cause if so, damn ill just get reg oil man. But always used syn since my first damn beater car lol.

 

Ok, we'll put a cap on this right now. There is no oil nissan considers aftermarket. Hell out of the 3 nissan dealerships that IVe applied at and the 2 that Ive worked at they all used different motor oil. Jenkins Nissan in lakeland uses Quaker State, Classic uses Castrol GTX and Castrol Syntec as a upsell and we use Shell and Shell Syntec as a upsell also at Universal.

I personally have used mobil 1 in my car since I purchased it used at about 17500 miles, I started changing my oil in it every 3k miles at the 18k mark. I drop about a 1/4 of a quart every 3 k miles which is normal due to slight slight blowby of engine compression past the rings (every engine does it, there is no perfectly sealed engine).

Now some of you might think that having to change your oil at every 3k miles is a bit insane and costly but look at the frikkin car you drive and how much money you have invested in it? Is 5qts and a filter for 30 some odd dollars so much to ask for every 3k miles. Hell we spend more on that to fill up our gas tank every week.

I havent had a oil consumption issue yet and Ive only had one Z, a 06 that the rings went bad in at classic that I actually had to put a engine in.
