Sunday drive wouldn't work too well for my wife and I since we're planning on spending the night there when we go on the group drive. But decide on a date and we'll see if we can make it. Still have some weddings going on too.

Just pretend the meet/drive is a wedding and you've been formaly invited. Now you HAVE to go!

Usually the person who starts the thread or coordinates the event picks the date. Just my .02

+1. Someone needs to just pick a date and go...those that can make it will go, and those that can't will try to make the next one. With a group this big, there won't be a date that everyone can make.

The destination has been picked. Now this group just needs:

Date
Route
Meeting Place
Meeting Time
Departure Time

I can't coordinate this one...my summer is already too full, but I'll try to tag along if it falls on a day that I've got free.

If you guys go on a Sunday I will let my brother know and he will probably go. Since he lives in that area already, he would probably meet you half way (Vail?) and then just go home when the meet is over.

I have an idea! Let's get you married while we're there. Problem solved!

Fine fine fine... :P Let's go ahead and try for the 8th of July. I'll work on a route right now while I'm at work. I'll put that together along with a meeting place and time and post later on tonight.

Ok, just to let everyone know, I can't offer my police protection services north of El Paso County. So it's all going to be on that short lil asian dude for protection

Alright, I believe I have a decent route planned out. I tried to find an online map/directions that the directionaly challenged could use, but haven't had any luck finding one for a road trip style map, and Rand McNally shows Independence Pass as... impassable. But alas, here is the general idea.

Starting Point:
Colorado Mills Mall (14500 W Colfax Ave, Lakewood, CO )
6th Ave to I-70 West
I-70 West to Highway 24 - Exit 171
Follow Highway 24 to Leadville, CO - short break here (Approx. 2-2.5 hours into drive)
Continue on Highway 24 to CO-82 West
Follow CO-82 to Aspen - Lunch ( 4 hours into drive)
Follow CO-82 to Glenwood Springs - rest stop ( 5-5.5 hours into drive)
I-70 East back to Denver

Still looking into lunch options in Aspen, also a rest stop in Minturn or Red Cliff might be in order before Leadville. If anyone has been up this way before and knows of some nice stops please chime in. Also if anyone knows where I can create a map online for this trip it would be a great help.

Maybe I am getting old, but even I can't do 10 hours in the Z.......... How about we split this one. Drive to Aspen, hit the bars, sober up and drive home the next day..........

We have done this exact drive before, and it's one of the best I remember. It's not way too much to do in one day IMO. If you leave by 8:30 or so from the mall, you will be back in Denver by 8:00pm and that includes stopping to take pics many times, eating lunch in Aspen, eating dinner at Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs and everything.

I just think you guys are a bunch of panzies. But what do I know.

I will post up if I can go or not depending on what the date is. My summer is kinda like Gary's, not alot of free weekends.

buy a radio? lol I know I will be. Personally I'd like to see at least 6+ people go, it's more about the company then the drive for me.
