Cool Drive to Aspen

I figured we'd be better off with a thread for this. This way we can decide on a date and route. Any thoughts or suggestions? I hopefully will have Fri-Sat off starting in a week or two, but regardless I'll take the day off for this trip.

Thanks for posting this!

I will go, but only if it's on the weekend, preferably a Saturday.

You know I'm all for it! Aspen is a place I've wanted to visit since long before I moved to Colorado. Most likely, we (wife and I) will stay there for the night since it's a trip we've been wanting to make for a while, so we won't drive back with you guys, but the drive there alone will be a helluva lot of fun!

My brother and his wife are visiting from Germany 06/30-07/03, and there are still some weddings to attend this summer, but I really hope the date everyone agrees to, is workable for us. I really want to make this trip.

I'm excited already!

Did we want to try and do the run this month? Say the 24th? If not it looks like we'll have to aim for the 8th or 15th, how do any of those dates look for everyone?

Current Road Conditions

Aspen 10-Day Forecast

48hr Weather Chart

Just a few weather related links to help you guys decide on when to go. There is still quite a few rocks/stones on the road surface left over from the winter months, so be careful and don't follow each other too closely... or you can expect a sandblasting!

The Independence Pass run is probably my most memoriable one to-date. It was a rare combination of low traffic, beautiful weather, and great company that ranks it so highly. Thanks David & Gary!

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend a run to Aspen until the 12th of August at the earliest. Please Take plenty of pics along the way.

Cheers!

I don't think this month is good for me. Sat. are my days off. Then again, I'm just one guy.

But you have to come!

Let's choose a Saturday in August, guys. It should work for pretty much everyone here. This will truly be the drive of the year. Aspen route seems to be hard to beat for scenery and curves, even though I haven't even lived here all that long.

can there ever be a drive on a Sunday. That works best for me. Lets try to mix it up a little to let everyone have a chance to have some fun.

now now, we all know we can only have one redline at each event. lol Bamyi, were you thinking of the 8th? Looks like there might be a minor mod day going on then too.

My schedule is so damn screwed up on the weekends now that I will leave the scheduling up to others. I will just try and make whatever date it is that everyone else decides on.
I have alot going on with racing, vacations, weddings we need to attend and my landscaping project that it makes it difficult for me to commit.

I'd be interested, depending on the schedule. I have no idea what weekends I'm free, the wife keeps that on a need to know basis.

My uncle owns the new Quiznos up there, maybe I can get us a discount or free lunch, he's a car guy too.

Just mark a date and plan the cruise! I might not go all the way to Aspen though, but I'd join in for a little bit
