Colorado/snow car
alright so first of all my dad has an amazingly good condition 1984 porsche 911 carrera cabriolet for sale and it is listed on autotrader
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...g=en&cardist=9
now secondly, once my dad sells this car he wants to get something a little cheaper as my snow car because he takes my truck when it snows (his bmw doesn't work too great int he snow)
so i was just wondering if anyone had some ideas for car that is either front or all wheel drive that can handle snow fairly well but also wouldn't be a boring car to drive in regular weather.
the price limit is probably under 25k, i had in mind something along the lines of an altima but i'm pretty sure those are rear wheel drive(not sure though) and most likely don't handle snow well. I was also considering maybe a mazda, most likely a mazda 3. the only real problem with that is my friend has the same car and i guarantee we wouldn't go a day with the same car without racing....
any suggestions are appreciated and please take a look at the porsche on autotrader, it's amazing condition, drives like the day it was made and has been covered, garaged and never seen snow except throught he garage window.

But i also noticed that they have a whole section about how the 2007 altima is supposed to have all kinda of upgrades and be way cooler than the previous ones. I was just wondering this winter when the new altima is realeased, what type of effect do you think this will have on the 2006 models that the dealerships already have in stock?
obviously the priced will drop but any estimates on how much? do you think theres any way a now 29k msrp altima se-r will drop down to more of the 25k range once there is a new and improved model released? I would love to be able to find an se-r in my price range because that 260 horses and 6 speed manual make me start to drool a little.
thanks

The '06 Altima models are being shoved out the door as we speak. While the Altima Se-R would undoubtedly make a good snow/winter car, it's a low production model. If you can find one in late December, a good negotiator could walk away with a price around $25K if the dealership hasn't been able to move it by that time.
Keep in mind that ANY car will benefit from having dedicated snow tires in the winter. When you're budgeting for a car, it's always great to have one set of tires/wheels for late fall/winter and another for the rest of the year!

+2 On the WRX. I also always thought that the SE-R Spec V Sentras were pretty good.
Wow, that's a really nice Porsche. That engine bay is super clean. It looks like it was well cared for. Plus it has fuzzy seats.

those are just the sheep skin covers, not the actual seat covers. They come with the car though. And the only reasonw e didn't take them off for the pictures is because they are tricky to get on just right. But i guarantee they aren't covering anything wrong with the car, the leather seats underneath are perfect condition and preserved by the covers, my dad just likes sheep skin
and thanks everyone else for all the help, i'm kinda between and altima with snow tires or a wrx sedan. the only problem with the wrx is i have always hated the looks of wrx's, i don't know why i just like cars more like the z or altima that are more rounded, the wrx seems to boxy or something.
Lets not forget trucks. I've always like the tacoma. It'll be good in show but those little things can be fun to drive with the proper setup. You can probably get a used TRD tacoma for under 25K.

yeah i've driven trucks and they can be pretty damn fun, but i already have an f150. Basically once i get the new car it will be regular driving days i'll probably drive the truck and the car evenly but on snowy days my dad takes the truck and i am left with whatever other car i get.
i see nothing wrong with trucks but i just don't want to have two trucks, i would much rather have a truck and a car.

You basically just summed up how i feel. Everything about the subie fits pretty much exactly what i want, except that it's an ugly subaru.
if only subaru could combine their performance with the styling of nissan.
