Default Concerned about F.I. calling all FI owners

Researching this F.I. stuff again. Man it's scary...Thanks to someone else these posts:
https://my350z.com/forum/nitrous-oxide/227080-just-a-couple-reason-why-turbo-headache-and-nitrous-fun.html
Turbonetics have problems owners refer to as "welcome to the club" This was the way I was leaning. Kevin's car seems cool other than the belt/pulley, but he's got mad $'s in the build, I'm not going that far. Justin's TT is closer to my goal, that seems to be working well? Obviously the Greddy is better quality than TN. That report that Rob/Kev sent spoke highly about the TN, but real life owners don't seem happy. Should I scrap this and go bottle fed?
HELP!!!

Get it installed at a place with a lot of experience. I've never heard fo ANY install problem coming from MRC (a shop w/ a lot of experience near my house). If i was getting something big done, i'd get it done by them.

Bottle fed is no more safe and reliable as F/I on a VQ motor..Pretty much anytime you take a motor designed to make 278-300 CHP and modify it to make 380-450WHP, there are obvious accepted riskes..

hr2burn you might want to talk to boulder nissan and such... they have a Z in the lot with the TN kit. and its doing fine and dandy with just the kit itself. no tune. a lot of other ppl with the tn kit also have many miles on it 15k+ , they didn't play with the boost levels . and they did a great install by pulling the engine out and tightening everything to make sure its on well.

ive done a lot of research and im certain its a good route, even though you c ould be an unlucky one . but im saving up for my TN kit rite now as we speak. just need to wait for TN to release the 06 kit

Hey man, ive researched this a lot too, if you go with a turbo kit, get it installed by a professional and then its really up to you. The more money you put into building the motor the more boost you can push into it without problems. If you go with a turbo kit, run low boost on a stock engine. If your looking to go fast at bandimere and not fast every where, i would consider the nitrous, its cheaper, easier, and if only used once in a while, wont hurt the engine that much if any. But im going turbo when i have enough money, but thats just my 2 cents. good luck!

J-Man, TC Performance can take great care of you, just follow the link in my sig to get their contact information and give them a call - I'm sure he'll be more than happy to give you a quote. Talk to Tobi about it, and talk to him about engine management, I personally would not trust Turbonetics ECU reflash here at altitude. My greddy install has been great and with regular maintenance has been problem free. If I were you I'd go either Turbonetics or APS ST and just stick w/ the stock boost and a solid tune. That will treat you well. With a turbo your not always constantly boosting, only when you want it to, and there's no bottles to refill etc.

Either way, as MRC mentioned, there's going to be a certain level of accepted risk that you are going to have to agree to and then go foward. If it worries you too much, dont stress yourself out and just enjoy the car how it is

Thanks for all the info guys. The risks I accept is altering the stock motor to install the turbo and all the issues that come from that. What I am talking about with the TN is all the oil leaks I have read about, the difficulty finding them, going unnoticed to the point of blowing motor. It seems to me, as long as you don't boost more than motor was built to take, it should be reliable....no?
Also as far as having someone install, I'm on the fence on that one. The TN is by far the easiest install of all the FI's, but the Utec tuning I would leave to a pro. Again I am undecided on who to install. I'm trying to get my ducks in a line now to be prepared for whatever I do on this topic in the future.
Thanks again for the people "in my boat" waiting for more peeps with FI to add 2 cents as well.
