Default Anyone in Colorado want to get married?

So I've been looking at getting a mazdaspeed6 but i've run into a big obstacle.

Insurance

My insurance company says it will cost me 1400 every 6 months to add it to my family's plan or 4g's a year to have my own plan.

I will definetly be finding lower rates elsewhere but i still expect it to be pretty high.

As you all know, the only two big times you get discounts on insurance are when you turn 25 and when you get married. Since i don't yet have a time machine i guess my only option is to get married or I'm doomed to 8 1/2 more years of ridiculous insurance.

Any takers?

you are 16 and a half, I think you will need your folks permission to get married. and don't be in a rush because it sucks for the guy.

Haha yeah, i've given it a bit more thought and it probably wouldn't be worth the discount.

Also, you made me realize that i can't do math after two days of finals.... only 7 1/2 years of terrible rates!

sometimes i forget how to subtract 17.5 from 25

Hey, being a good student helps as well! Keep up them A's. All kinds of stuff you can tack on with geico, working for the right place, being in the right groups, being a good student. You get in to the military they give you a big discount, you work for the state department they give you a big discount. They key is to buy a car that doesnt jack your rates, namebly a four dour or at the least a four seater.

Enjoy your experience of being young- you only go down that path once, so do it right! As for getting married, take your time and find the right person. It's one of the bigger decisions in life and possibly the BIGGEST factor in happiness you'll EVER make.

As for cars, just remember rule #1: it's the driver that makes the car, not the other way around. Learn to drive WELL whatever car you can afford and the cool cars will come your way.

Do your self a favor and DONT buy a brand new really hot car at your age... buy an old junker and wait tell you have alot of experiance diving, and DONT have to park it in a high school parking lot every day!!!!

My first car was a 1988 mazda mx6 (same line as the mazda 6), and it had 190,000 miles on it when I got it, bought it for 700 bucks, sold it to a friend with 240,000 miles on it when I bought the Z at the age of 22 (soon to be 23... less than a month!)

trust me, buy a used beater and drive it until you're in conditions that are good for both you and the car.

plus insurance goes down when you have good grades (already mentioned) if you take a drivers course, they go down when you're 18, and 22, and then 25, and when you get married. The more safty features on the car the less the insurance as well (like side airbags, etc). I also have my house insurance with the same company my car insurance is with, and I get a 15% discount on the house, and a 12% discount on the car for that... of course I am actually about to get married too... WHOHO! lol

Stop driving at 140mph on C470 and your rate might just drop

And a big on buying a junker and more driving time. You'll appricate a nicer car more when you get older also. Too many kids are spoiled when their parents buy them brand new cars. Study hard, work hard and earn it yourself and you'll love your car more.

I already have a 3.9 and you just have to have a 3.0 gpa for good grades discounts.

I went to masterdrive which is probably the most reputable driver's ed place in colorado and you end up with like 100000000 hours of driving/classtime (slightly rounded of course)

ALso, the speed6 has as many safety/security features as any other cars i've looked at.

and finally, every kind of insurance that travelers offers, we have through them so i still kinda think my company is trying to screw us on this car because it doesn't cost nearly as much to insure me on basically a brand new f150 supercrew lariat 4wd.

Have your parents pay for it since they probably pay for about 98% of everything else you buy and do.
