Default Colorado Summer Meet # 2

This will serve as the official thread for Colorado Summer Meet # 2.

If you have any suggestions please post them here.
I would like to get something going pretty quickly as the more we chat about it, the more the summer races by.

I like the suggestion about Independence Pass, what about anyone else?
Another alternative, we could drive south on 285 through Fairplay and on to Buena Vista. Turn right and head up to Leadville then up and over the pass near the climax mine down to Copper Mountain. Then we could stop in Idaho Springs for a lunch/dinner @ Beau Jo's or Tommyknockers, and then on back to Denver.

I'm not sure if that is too long a drive or not for everyone. But just my first suggestion. I know the drive is very beautiful.
Lets get some thing going soon.

Brian

Fishing poles don't fit well in my Z.

Guess I will have to bring some corn and a net, they work much better. Especially when space is an issue.

I do that ride all the time but would be up for it for sure with all of you. (not to many ways you can get back to Durango from Boulder).

Sounds good. Any proposed dates? Any weekend after the 21st of June is good for me.

Either of the drives that Brian suggested sound good to me. Distance isn't too much of a concern for me, as I'd like to take as much advantage of our state's roads as possible, even if it means early mornings and late nights.

As for availability, I can make it any weekend after June 15 except for the weekends of June 28, July 5, and July 12 (I think July 12 is when the ZCCC is having their track day at the Colorado State Patrol track...don't want to miss that!)

Default OOPS 4 ME

I've been planning a 2 week vacation for about 5 months and it looks like I'm leaving the w/o 6/15 [hopefully]. I'm taking my other sport-car-like vehicle because of my banged up legs. I'm heading to Wyoming [Jackson] first and then on to Montana, Idaho and northern Utah.

I've never driven in northern Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and some parts of northen Utah so if any of you guys have ideas where I should go I'd love to hear from you.

Grand Teton & Yellowstone are already on my itinerary but after that I haven't had the time to scope it all out.

So far, I've received 4 "paragraphs." Need 3 more! For those who have -- thanks. For those who have not -- how do you spell that sound you make when you stick out your tongue and blow? [phattttt?]

4 out of 7 -- If you hit 571 in MLB, you'd make Sammy "THE CORK" kind of money; in the league of Sport Z, you'd be riding the pine.

BTW, my webmaster is on holiday until sometime next week so I'll be a bit slow uploading the Trail Ridge Road stuff.

Late,

Both routes sound good to me. Driving the Z for 5 hours then finishing the night off with some beers is always a Saturday well spent

Any weekend will work for me. The sooner the better.

Brian and Gary- I will see you guys at Second Creek.

How about June 21st or 22nd?

I know this won't work for Bob, but how about everyone else? Yes Joe, I know......."Anytime, Anywhere" for you.

It doesn't have to be then, but I agree the sooner the better.

I think if we don't do it then it will be in July because of everyone's schedules.

I live down in the Springs and missed your last drive because I was overseas on business. I will not be back in country till June 30 so I may not be able to make this drive either. Just keep me in mind because I would like to join you.

July 21, 22 or 28, 29 actually will work for me.
July 5, 6 probably won't as that will be more 4th of July celebration continuation.
July 12, 13 would be fine as well, as will anything after that.

I should be able to do June 14, 15 or 21, 22 but not sure after that since I will probably have to travel for work.

Default Guess what?

The w/o will not work for my vacation, too much Sport Z stuff going on in California so it appears I'll be ready to rock on Saturday, June 21st afterall. Art [associate publisher] and David will be with Nissan and Stillen and I'll need to mind the fort. Besides, Art will have our digital camera and I can't leave home without it.

Still 3 of our crowd have not submitted their promised Trail Ridge Road paragraph. Don't mess a guy with the power of the press.

Oh my,

Bob

How about Saturday June 21st?

I would like to try a Saturday drive so that we are not in any sort of I-70 traffic on Sunday afternoon.

Can't wait for the next meet, hopefully more people will be able to make it.

Brian is right, Saturday is better than Sunday because of I70 traffic. Plus, the sinkhole could still be an issue.

What a sight -- a bunch of Zs on Independance Pass.

Sunday was great, hope to make the next meet. The wife and I are heading out for a little vacation the week of the 23rd, but we haven't decided when we are leaving. So if we depart on Sunday, we will be there, otherwise we will see you all at "Summer Meet #3".

Can someone that had a digital camera Sunday post a couple of their shots, I'm still waiting for my roll to be processed.

Bob - your paragraph will be arriving soon, I have been buried with client demands all week. I respect your "power"

Well I won't be able to make it to Second Creek. I just can't find a helmet that I can fit in this car with. I guess I may have to see if I can lower the seat some how.
Maybe I might come out and watch for a little bit.

Sorry Guys............Brian

Default Hey Guys!

An Eastern Kansas Z owner here. (out of your region)

My parents were out in Granby and Grand Lake last weekend. They saw some of y'all coming down from the continental divide and were absolutely awestruck! That was the first thing my Dad told me about their trip.

Sure wish there were more Z owners around the Topeka, KS area...oh and a few mountains to drive on wouldn't be too bad either.

Just thought I'd drop a note to let you know I was jealous...have fun at your second summer meet and keep it between the ditches (and on the cliffs)!
