Colorado HPDE and race team help
David.............I am still trying to see if I can make it. My travel schedule for this week and next has me out of town. I am working on trying to get it changed so that I can be there, but time will tell if that works out.
I will keep everyone posted.

Uh Oh. Hope we don't lose too many guys (or gals, for that matter). We're already getting exclusive rights to PMI that day and I'd like to make sure we bring as many cars as possible. If we make this work for the track, we may get more exclusive rights in the future!
On a separate subject, I'd like to ask if anyone has access to some orange traffic cones. I'd like to set up some braking and accident avoidence exercises, but we need visual markers (that won't get smushed if someone overcooks it). Please post here if you have (or can borrow) some.

on a side note to those of us that are going.. I have a copy of the road course map that I would be happy to bring or you can print your own from.

I take it, this is in Pueblo, Co?
I just moved here, and live in Colorado Springs. Is it okay if I tag along with you guys? I don't want to race, but I can take a ton of pics, my camera holds over 900 pics.
I am a policeman here, and could possibly get some cones. How many would you need?

Chas-
Sorry you can't make it this time! We'll try to include you on a weekend trip to Pueblo. And yes, it's just a few miles south of Co. Spgs, so take it easy with that lasar gun, will ya?
EZNow-
OK, but YOU try to stop and pick up a few of those TREX cones...
Everybody-
Just returned from a SCCA race down in Alburquerque. Sandia Motorsports Park has a road course which uses a banked oval as part of it's configuration. Very cool, fast and fun! Could possibly be another (affordable) track within a day's drive for us to play on. We'll chat more about it on Friday...

I have a buddy with an '03 Focus SVT and I told him about the track day. I know the DE stuff will be Z oriented, but he's quite interested. Would it be a problem if he came out? He wants to get some track experience, and this event seems like a great way.

No problem at all if he wants to come this Friday. Driving is driving and much of what we'll work on will be directly applicable to your friend with the Focus. I'll try to give him some front wheel drive driving tips since I have some experience there.
David......as it stands right now I won't be able to join everyone. I can't get this appt. I have scheduled changed, and it's gonna cost alot for me to change my current flight arrangements.
If a miracle happens I will let you know, but right now it's not looking good. If it was on Saturday I would be able to make it.
David.....sorry about this, I appreciate all your work you have put into these events. Sorry I have to miss out again. This is what happens when you have a job in which you travel alot I guess, this is the part of it that I hate.........missing alot of things.
Have a great time guys.

Brian-
Thanks for taking the time and having the courtesy to post your regrets. I certainly understand work-related committments and we'll miss seeing that LeMans Sunset Z streaking down the straightaway!

Less than 24 hours to go!
Here are directions to the track for anyone we miss at the rest stop tomorrow morning. I copied these from a post that dkmura made before our last trip down to PMI:
-Take I-25 south to Pueblo (about 100 mi. from Denver)
-As you are entering the N. side of Pueblo, look for 'Route 50 West' exit and turn R
-Proceed west about 6 miles (past bend in road and railroad bridge) to Pueblo Blvd. Turn L
-Go through first stoplight going south and look to R for signs and entranceway to PMI. Follow signs for 'road course' as it winds up and down hills.
-The paved PMI road should lead you to a fenced area that cordons off the 2.2 mile road course.
If you arrive after the 350Z group has entered, the gate to the track will be closed. Please wait or honk your horn (there aren't any security or track personnel at the gate) and hopefully, someone will be by to let you in. We will be situated near the drag racing tower on the SW corner of the track.

David,
sent you a PM.
Anyone know where I can pick up a helmet? I have one from when I had my motorcycle, but not a auto helmet. Don't need a top of the line as I may only use it a couple time a year at most.

Sent you back a PM as well. Please bring along your motorcycle helmet. It won't be as good in cushioning multiple hits ,a feature of SA or Special Application helmets (designed for auto-racing) but It'll be better than nothing.
Don't know of too many cut-rate helmet shops. After all, how much is that precious noggin' of yours worth, eh? I'll be bringing along my 'vintage' SA-85 Bell as well, in case anybody needs it. But it may not fit well, so let's not make it a last resort if possible.
Less than 24 hours and counting. We're gonna have some fun!

BTW1, Gary or someone please take a few high-res digitals for me for possible publication. BTW2 dk, I may have found a new webmaster but it was not the one you suggested (complicated, we'll talk).

UPDATE
I will be there tomorrow meeting everyone at the rest area. A miracle has happened...(although it cost me some money) so I can make it. Please wait up for me as I will be there about 8:30 am.
On a side note......I will have to scoot at about 2:00pm so I can make it back to Denver for a race @ Bandimere.
Thanks for everyone's paitience.

Our Friday HPDE was a complete and total success! We got through all the exercises, including threshold braking, accident avoidence and heel-and-toe downshifting, before moving on to the road course.
I won't go into how good the weather was or how much fun we all had. Let's just say that everybody experienced their own limits in testing their Z's (or their ZX3 if your name is Jon). My thanks to Howard, Briian, Matt and Davina, Dennis Jon, Rob and both Garys for listening and learning. And although Shogun wasn't there THIS time, I can report that lunch was GOOOOD.
We kept our licenses, learned or rehearsed valuable skills and (in my case) used up my rear tires (again). No Z's were hurt in the making of this film and look for a future announcement on another sequel!!!
