Default Arizona z owners, cruise to Sedona/Flagstaff on Nov 8th? Details-updated 10/23

Some of us G35 (sedan and coupe) owners are planning a trip up north on November 8th. If you guys think you can keep up, your more than welcome to come along. It would be cool to meet some Z owners and the more the better.

So far this is what is being considered: Meet somewhere on the north side (Carefree Hwy/I-17) around 10 a.m. and drive up to Sedona for lunch. Then cruise Oak Creek Canyon/Flagstaff or anywhere else people might want to check out. If you want to follow the original thread its over at g35driver.com - sedona run

If your interested, just reply to this thread and I will pass it along.

Will think about it. It is a month away. May stop to say hi or go as far as Sedona.

Thumbs up

Cool, I will keep you guys updated here or you can check out the thread I linked to in my first post. Come on valley Z owners, I know there are a lot of you in here. It wouldn't take much to make this into a Z run with some G's tagging along.

This would be such a fun trip! Unfortunately for me, my best friend's wedding is the 9th, and I will be busy doing bridesmaid stuff the day before. Another time, I guess.

priorities, I know, I know. My friend's boyfriend drives a G35C. The least I could do is spread the word...that is, if he's not a part of the community already.

Nice!! I have been wanting to get a look at your wheels too.

Here is the updated itinerary:

MORE DETAIL:

Meeting Place - Albertson & McDonald's parking lot - Exit 223 off of the I-17. Once you get off at exit 223, Carefree Highway turn right (east). You will see A Chevron, McDonalds and Albertson's on the Left. I will be in the parking lot on the east side of McDonalds close to the Highway.

Arrive early... say 9:30 to meet everyone. We will leave at 10am.

The first planned stop will be at Camp Verde - Exit 287. This will give everyone a poddy stop and a chance to stretch. (I understand not everyone will need to stop, but I am sure someone will.)

We will then continue North on the I-17 to the Sedona exit - Exit 298, also route 179. After making a left (west) we should be able to re-group on the shoulder. I believe there is enough room to stop our entire group here. This is one potential place for those coming from other directions to meet us. I expect to be here between 11:20 and 11:30.

From here we enter the red rock all the way into Sedona. I would like to make one stop before lunch to take pictures of everyone with the rocks on the background. I have a couple of spots in mind that we can stop but will not decide on one until I see how many cars we actually have.

After one quick stop for a picture or two we should arrive at our lunch spot about 12:15ish or sooner depending on the time spent at our stop. Our lunch spot will be determined by the tallied votes on the yahoo group page (see post above). Depending on where we eat lunch (fast food or nice cafe) lunch could take an hour to an hour and a half.

1:30ish, after lunch, we will continue on 89A North towards the I-17 and Flagstaff. The twistes should be fun.... According to Mapqwest, the trip from Sedona through Oak Creek and back to the I-17 should take about an hour of driving (55 minutes, 25 miles). Depending on traffic and our habits we may take less time. At lunch we can get a feel for what everyone wants in regaurds to number of stops. We can make as many or as few stops as we like. Sean thought that the Dairy Qween would be a good place to stop. There is a lot of room to pull off and is potential a good spot to be seen. There is ice cream too.

Before we reach the I-17 again (we will be at exit 337) we can pull off and say our good byes. This is where I planned on ending the meet. If my calculations are right, we should be here no later than 3:30 including a couple stops but no problems. If anyone is interested in continuing to Flag for some other activity (happy hour maybe), I am sure some one will be game.

To get back to Phoenix, go south on the I-17.

Bring you camera. It should be a beautiful day... I ordered perfect weather. If you have a walkie talkie bring it along so we can talk while on the road. I will have a radio and my cell phone if anyone gets seperated.

Please send me an email and or PM if you have any questions, comments or... I do not accept complaints.

Ok, so far I have N74DV and JimH on the list. This looks like a fun trip, anybody else want in? It is not absolutely necessary to add your name to list, feel free to come if you can make it. However, we are trying to get an idea just how many will be there beforehand, so please keep me updated. Thanks,

Nathan

I propose that those of us who are going that own FRS 2 way radios bring them.

We can settle on a channel and use that for communication should the pack get separated.

I do that alot when I drive with the Audi guys.... works nice.

Jim.... it'll be good to see you & Marilyn again. Last time I saw her she had only 10K miles!

Eeeew, DJ you are hard, man! But you are right, no hard call on which is the most fun between a run thru Oak Creek Canyon and a garage sale....
Yup, Marilyn has matured since you last saw her. 42,000 miles will do that to a gal! See ya on the 8th. Regards, Jim

Default Sedona additions

Nathan, A friend of mine signed up here earlier, but you seem not to have his name. Greg and Dianne will be driving a red Enthusiast on the run. Also another friend, Paul, I think will be coming in his CS track too. Regards, Jim
