Need some advice about moving to Colorado
My wife and I are thinking of moving to Colorado very soon. I am currently in Minnesota really sick of the cold. I have a BSc in Computer Science and my wife has a BSc in Biochemistry. We have one child.
I have been to Colorado for visit and I liked it. I think Denver is a little too big. I would like to settle in CO and raise my family there. What are some of the nicer places with good technology job prospects and sort of "non-metro" culture? We don't care much about the night-life (clubbing/ party etc) however don't want to live in ghetto either.
I was thinking of Aurora, Fort Collins etc.
I would really appreciate if you guys could give me some advice and some suggestions, pros and cons for some places in CO.
Thanks.

Hi Spextar,
So here is the scoop. I have lived in Colorado for 5 years and before that I was in Vegas, Orlando, Texas, Germany and a host of other places and I must admit the weather is decent here compared to those places.
In regards to the area, Denver is kind of funny because there isn't an area that is "strickly ghetto" from the way I see it. Like you could be in Lakewood and the houses are a little older and smaller and then a few blocks down there are expensive homes. Same with Aurora...you could be in an older more under developed part of Aurora (around Colfax between Monaco and Havana) and then 15 minutes later on the other side of Aurora there are Million dollar homes (Tallyn's Reach and that area). That being said, I see areas like this in all the cities in Denver so the best bet is if you can come out and drive around and make a judgement for your self.
Consider the school districts as well since you have a little one. Aurora may have some nice areas, but some of the schools north of Hampden suck bad. South of Hampden in Aurora is Cherry Creek which are some decent schools. On the the other hand, I am a Web Designer, I live in Aurora and cannot find ANY work in Aurora Technology wise with big companies. I have to drive up to Broomfield (35 miles north/10 - 15 miles south of Boulder) to find work. Parker is nice as well (if my wife had it her way we would be living in Parker).
The Technology dominate areas are (this is from my knowledge so don't go by only what I tell you) are the Denver Tech Center area, Broomfield area, Downtown Denver and Boulder.
