Thumbs up Joining the family...

Just wanted to introduce myself...

Just picked up a base 350z Pikes Peak White, only options are door sills, side airbags, and gaurds...

Been researching for several months now, and very happy with my purchase... looking forward to saving up for future mods...

Previous car was a 2001 Toyota Celica GT-S... so it's quite a change...

But like I said, just wanted to introduce myself, and see if anyone else is in the Tucson area.

If so, any recomendations on who to go see or not go see when it comes to mods...

Thanks,
Chris

I'm in Colorado, but I do welcome you to the board. Hopefully the sun and heat hasn't fried their brains, and those around you will respond soon!

Have you started to sleep inside the house yet?

Welcome to the family!! Hope you enjoy the car as much as I've enjoyed mine. The first road trip I took in the Z was to Tucson. There are some great roads in your area. I particularly enjoyed the drive from Show Low to Globe via Hwy. 60. Didn't get to drive to Mt. Lemon as the road was closed. Hope to get that on another trip. My first purchase was a radar detector( Valentine V1).

Thanks for the warm welcome guys... I actually took her up to Mt. Lemon last night, and I must say she did really well. She grips the road, oh so nicely. Can't wait to really start enjoying her. I've been taking it easy as far as RPM's and speed, can't believe I am already over 200 miles and I just got her on Friday. Yikes. Anywho, first mod, will have to be TINT. Can't go more than a couple days in this damn AZ heat. Second thing I think will be a 3M Clear Bra, hopefully... I am afraid of the rock chips.

Do the clear bra before you do anything else. I waited and have three really ugly rock chips being protected by the clear bra. Don't wait! Get it done first.
Post some pics of the new car soon.

I'm really thinking heavily on that... the main thing is just coming up with the extra cash right away... I prefer to pay cash for everything (saves the Credit Cards)... but who knows, since I won't have a car payment for a month or so, perhaps I can do it...

Here's some pics...

Hey I'm in Tucson. I am ordering my 05 Roadster tomorrow from the dealer and they tell me it will be about 90 days until it comes in. What dealer did you go through? I am going to Thoroughbread on 22nd.

Sweet... Talk w/Rod in Fleet. He worked very hard and got me an AWESOME deal... I was working with all the dealerships within 100 miles and he came through in the quickest time, and the best price. I think if you tell him you I referred you... we'll both get like a 100 bucks towards a part/accessory. I think, or it may be just me... dunno

But yeah, definately talk w/Rod in Fleet, I got it Friday night.

Chris

I tried to deal with those guys at Jim Click and they were total idiots. They had the big car show at the TCC so I figured that would be a good place to go. When I looked at the car and was ready to buy they told me they would not let me test drive the vehicle. They said they have a strict no test drive policy. I told them that I would NEVER buy a vehicle I wouldn't test drive. The salesman told me that they would sell me the car and then once I buy it I can drive it. If I got off theie lot and didn't like the car, I could just drive back and they would tear up the paperwork like the sale never happened. The sales manager even came over to tell me the same thing. I can't believe that anyone would fall for those sales tactics. God I hate car salesman and the way they sell!

Price wise, how much over invoice did Rod get you that car for if you don't mind me asking?

The PPW is a great color. I saw a PPW Roadster with the frost gray interior and a blue top. It was just a spectacular looking car. Mine is Daytona Blue with the charcoal interior. I get a lot of comments and I really like it but if I had to do it again, I'd probably go with the PPW.

How do you get multiple pics in one posting? I've tried to do that but I can't figure it out

Yeah, Jim Click has it's moments... I've only really worked with the Fleet Dept, and they never really said anything about not being allowed to test drive. Thoroughbread was the only dealership that has actually let me test drive a car.

Anyway, as far as a price... I always hate doing this, because I get someone always saying man you got ripped off... but, eh, WTF.

2004 Base 6spd MT Pikes Peak White
Options:
  • Floor Mats
  • Splash Guards
  • Aluminum Kick Plates
  • Side Air Bags & Head Curtains
  • 100K Mile Warranty ($50 Deductable)
  • Gap Insurance

Out the Door for right around $29,800. If you were to subtract the Warranty and Gap, it would be right around $28,650.

I think Rod did an awesome job on getting me this price, as here is what Nissan's Website had priced it out as...

Packages and Options

Side Air Bags & Head Curtains $620

Accessories

Floor Mats $80
Splash Guards $130
Aluminum Kick Plates $90
Trunk Mat $70

Base MSRP $26,470.00

Total Packages, Options, & Accessories $990.00

Destination & Handling $560.00

Total Designed MSRP† $28,020.00
And that 28,020.00 is before Tax, Title and License... so like I said talk to Rod, he should help you out. Because they are in the Fleet Dept, I knew they would be working off of "Invoice" cost and going from there. So, go to http://www.carpoint.com and/or http://www.carsdirect.com and price the car as you want it, it'll give you two columns. MSRP and Invoice. I went with those numbers and said look, I know the "Invoice" cost is blah, blah, so lets start working the numbers from there. I think I got it for like 300 or less over invoice, but to tell you the truth once they said they could get me out the door for the price I was looking for, I really just went with the flow.

Just make sure you go in there and know what you are talking about, because I went in there and told them, look I want to spend X amout of dollars, and if you all can't do that, then I will go buy another car. And they knew that... So good luck.

And I guess if you need anything else, just PM me or something and I will drop you my number.

Chris

Yeah, at first the PPW was not my first choice... I was leaning towards either Daytona, Silverstone, and then possibly PPW, but I must say I am happy with it. The pearl in the color had suprised me, as I didn't know it had it, until I was about ready to drive off in it. Great color.

Anywho... as far as posting multiple pictures. Piece of cake. Go to http://www.photobucket.com or something and create an account. Upload your images, and once you are given a web address for the pictures copy the web address and then use the [img] tags and put them in your post.

Example

[img]Picture URL Here[/ img]

Just make sure you make it all one word... [/img]

And Matt... I hope you don't mind, but I mentioned your name to Rod this morning, as I had to call about a sticky console door. And forgive me, but I mentioned a Daytona Blue Roadster, but in re-reading the posts I got yours and zz-notop's posts mixed up... So just in case Rod says, oh you're looking for a '05 DB Roadster...

Thanks, I'll give that a try. As far as the PPW is concerned, I also didn't realize the pearl in the color until I saw it up close. Enjoy!!

There really isn't much of 350Z/G35 community in Tucson. If you like to just go cruise on the weekends there is a very active group (mainly WRX's and EVO's) that goes out almost every Friday/Sat night. Also, arizonarides.com has a drive every month, there is usually a 350Z or two that shows up. I have a G35 coupe, but I am always down to drive mt lemmon - just shoot me PM. Welcome to the club - enjoy.

Chris,

Are you going to add a clear bra to your car. I was just wondering if you had any recommendations for any places here in Tucson that install them?

Eventually I will... now it's just a matter of time to save up the funds in order to do so. I went to 3M's website... and I found this.

I will give them a call tomorrow and go from there... maybe we can work a deal and say, hey if two of us came in, would you give us a discount... that is assuming you want to do it as well.
