Best Gas
I'd get shell / arco like 100000 times more likely than those places called "THRIFTY" or whatever random costco/albertsons/wtfpetroleum company. And I usually avoid shell and arco like the plague, since their gas used to make my mom's 1990 BMW 525 ping and knock like crazy. (I don't know how the quality is nowadays since I don't get their gas anymore, but this is my reasoning).

Good to know, I guess it's even less likely that I'll be getting Arco in the future. What's with their ATM-only card readers?
Hmm, I always thought Shell was supposed to be good and Mobil/Exxon was crap. Also, are you all going off your own personal experiences or some recent study on the different brands of gas?
I'm going to hold off on using Shell and stick with Chevron only until I hear otherwise. I used to be %50 Shell and %50 Chevron.

I use either shell, chevron or 76, which are all in the top tier IMO. This is the first time I've heard anything bad about shell.
More often than not, I'll use costco gas as long as their isn't a long line.
About texaco, I though they merged with shell...

cosco is extremely inconsistent, my freinds accord pulls timing half the time he uses cosco, the gas mileage he loses isnt worth the savings of cosco, hooray for engineering students,
My accounting professor owned a chevron station. She told me it was impossible for them to use anything but Chevron gas because Chevron monitors their tanks by satellite and sends a truck to refill once it notices the tanks down to a certain level. So, if the truck comes and the tank is full...chevron knows the station didn't buy their gas and can regulate their asses. places like arco and thrifty call around to find out who is cheaper that day when they need to fill their tanks...so the quality could be good for a lil while or could be so-so....just depends on who was cheaper the day they needed gas. Funny how that works. I believe Costco works the same way as thrifty gas and all those other places....just their station looks cleaner and more well kept...so i think people assume the gas is also.
