Glendale area people, need your help
What is the area like? I've only been there a few times (Glendale Galleria etc). What's the majority nationality. How's the roads? Are there a lot of fun places(good restaurants, shopping areas etc). I'm sure I have more questions but as of right now the most important question would be.. I'm moving within 2-3 months and I'd like to get the know the general point of view. I'm coming from the 626 area and well that's another story.. Anyhow.. I'm looking for a good neighborhood and I need a 1br apartment with a budget of around 1k$ a month. Of course the limit can bend a little. Anyone wanna help me out?
wow im moving there in 2-3 months also, plus gettin the 06 Z around that time too... i cant really help u out there, for the most part its a really great neighborhood.. u should jus take ur car out and cruise around and get to the kno the place =P im pretty sure u can find nice 1 bedrooms for about 600-700/month, i got a friend that lives there now that found one for that price, so keep looking
Yeah I saw a handful of armenians, but I was always told that Glendale was always a good area since the majority was white folks. Anyhow 6-700$?? That'd be nice.. Do you know the name? I did do some browsing awhile back when it was taken less seriously, ate some cpk and cruised up and down Vertigo Rd. Some of the prices were just ridiculous. 472 Sq. Ft 1 bedroom apartment for 1200$? I mean damn.. Heh anyways thanks so far for the advice, any more will be greatly appreciated. It doesn't necessarily have to be Glendale either, as long as im in close driving distance to Koreatown and Glendale Community College.
There are a bunch of Armos/Persians in the area, basically equivalent of Chinese in San Gabriel, the 626. The area is oddly mixed with business and housing all packed in the central areas, its not really divided. If you like convenience its not too bad, lots of shops and restaurants, the mall all within a 20 min walk. I wouldn't suggest living here if you don't like the cops though. They are all over the place giving out tickets, I'll see 4 to 5 people get tickets just on my lunch hour alone, also its the only place i've ever seen people actually get j-walking tickets.

Yup. Like people said...lots of armenians...used to be the richer white folks in the past, but persian/armenians seem to be the majority. I used to live in glendale, now in eagle rock...I like eagle rock...its growing, and nice little shops, restaurants, and coffee houses are popping up. A very mom+pops place for the younger "just graduated" from college crowd. You should probably check out that area...its not as developed as glendale, but the crowd is alot less "snobbish" and lack the glendale "attitude".

I grew up in glendale and it is a far different place now. Many of the areas have become run down in the last decade. Especially around that mall. Many of my friends I have grown up with have now moved out of the area due to the new element that has moved in. I live in an area above Glendale now called montrose. Its an older area for the most part but I found a 1 bedroom there for $950. Id say check out.......pasadena, eagle rock, la cresenta or maybe even burbank before you move into glendale. Thats my 2 cents.
Interesting.. thanks for the advice guys, I'll look into the other cities. But are they close to Koreatown/Glendale Community college.. I'm looking for something smack dab in the middle or in favor of one of the sides. Not somewhere farther away from both. Keep em comin
