Its not rocket science but for the amount of $$ we're spending on this anti-terrorism/Homeland security bullsh1t you would think that it was.

Okay, I didnt mean to generalize and centralize homeland security around air power. I'm talking about the whole proactive matrix behind homeland securty. I also did not imply that we use all our resources.

I'm all for jet fighters doing flybys and watching over us but can they fly those quiet Stealth bombers instead for those loud jet fighters...? hehehe.

actually. F16/18 are all REALLY quiet until they fly over you.. but once u notice, it'll typically be already too late if they're strafing your azz. stealth fighters too. they're just the same noise, just stealthy for radar signature.. not so much noise. when they fly really high up, you just cant hear them as well.. heh.

B1B with full afterburners on take off? that will literally make your computer monitor jump up and off your desk.

BTW, I just remembered that I have a client out in Cypress off of Katella and there is a base there or something.... I have seen Harriers land there. When they do, the windows shake!

Just confirmed at worked it was a F-18 Hornet. In fact, one just took of right in front of me this morning at ~11:00am ... probably the same one that strafed you. Haha

Stealth planes (F-117, B-2, etc.) are actually many times quieter than conventional jets. They have special diffusers (at the inlet and exhaust end) that both absorbs and deflect sound emmission. Oh ... and good luck luck persuading them to use one of those 'stealthy' planes. They are only deployed when totally necessary even during a war!

On a side note ...

A Russian An-124 Ruslan super carrier just landed moments ago delivering a Sea Launch payload. It is larger than our own C-5 Galaxy.
