Some background about me and steak. I was never into eating steak. To be very honest, I don't think I like steak. Maybe due to the fact I had bad ones. Well recently I made a bet with the woman and the bet was, if I lost, I would eat steak. I guess it is time for me to overcome my hate towards steak. We got these two restaurant to go to right now. Can I get a recommendation which is better?

If you know any other restaurant, please do feel free to comment on them as well.

Ruths Chris is a national chain, so the one in Baltimore is similar to the one in Los Angeles. I’d rate the quality of a petite filet 9 out of 10. With a cocktail and desert, expect to spend about $100 for 2.

Try Lawry's on La Cienaga in Beverly. It's not really steak its prime rib but pretty much the same thing. It's soooo good there and the cream of corn is awesome!

Mortons is amazing. Obscenly expensive though, but there is always some nice cars in front. I am thinking of the one next to south coast plaza.

I am back guys. We went to Morton in Costa Mesa. Sorry I didn't try anywhere else, she made dinner reservation. It is a class "A" restaurant. Service, food, environment is A+. I ordered the filet mignon and the verdict is..... GOOOD. Never was I a steak lover, but after tonight I have just saw the light. Everything was perfect, great meal, some mix drinks and my woman beside me. The only thing I didn't like was $$$. Frack you guys were right, total with tip is $198 something. whew thank goodness I didn't pay hahaha

I think it was $12 or was I wrong. I did ordered bake potato. gee I wonder how much it would cost if I just brought my own potato. Sauteed brocoli was $6 already. Jebus Christ!!!

That is the one I went to tonight. You're right, there are niec cars in front. There was one modified NSX there and it was . I was curious who was the owner of the car. Everybody in there was 50+ years old.

I might check it out one day. Our office is around there so maybe after work we can grab a bite.

I will have to go one day, everybody talks about Lawry Lawry Lawry.

Again, thanks for all your input. This is why I love this forum, you can always get people honest opinion about things. If I won the lottery, I would treat about 20 of you guys, anything beyond that number I will be flat broke again

Mortons prime rib is only available on fri and sat nites and early on those nights. But for prime rib I'd rather go to Lawry's anyways.

The wife and I went to Mortons in South Coast Plaza 2 fridays ago for our 5th wedding anniversary...I had the ribeye medium...so good, didn't need any seasoning or sauce, perfect the way it was. Nice orange Gallardo with no plates was in front with multipiece wheels with black centers...I would've given my left nut cut off with a rusty butter knife in trade for the keys and title.

I'm not really a steak eater either but special occasions remind me of how good a nicely prepared slab of meat is...if I had to eat it everyday then it would probably be a bit boring.

go to whole foods and buy the dry aged prime filet (if they have it) or ribeye, add a little morton steak seasoning (thats it) and throw it on the grill for about 7-10 minutes a side at 400 (time depends on weight) Runs about $35.00 a pound, throw in a potato and some veggies a bottle of cab and dinner for two will run around $100.00

guaranteed it is better than any of those steak houses mentioned already (unless of course they sell dry aged prime beef)
