***Official Southern California Cruise/Meet Thread***

Just checked out the route and had a few questions/comments:
Meeting spot at the Spectrum:
I'm not sure if this is correct, but the way I went, you take the 5-S and exit Alton Way. After exiting and at the light (I believe it's Executive Way or something), take a left turn. Drive forward a bit, and you should see a semi-open lot to your right. This is where we can meet. There is also a lot right before this section, but I believe that is for valet parking. Is this what someone was mentioning? If so, it seems like a decent spot since it is right off of the 5 that many people will exit, and the spot where we will re-enter. Exiting is straightforward, as you basically get right onto the 5-S again.
Best Buy parking lot:
When going to BB, take the 78-E and NOT 76, which comes about 2 miles before. When you get onto the 78, stay in the right lane. Other cars will also be merging onto the 78 as well, so be careful. Once you're on the 78, you will take the first exit, Jefferson Rd and take a left. Then take another left on Vista Way. You basically keep going straight through the shopping complex until you end up at Best Buy (should be on your right).
When leaving, go out the same way you came from, take a left on Jefferson, take 78-W. The 78W ends, so stay in the right lane and continue onto Vista Way. You go down about a quarter mile or so until you get to Coast Highway, where you make a left.
Please make sure that you drive cautiously on Coast Highway! There are MANY people parking alongside the curb, pedestrians, as well as bicyclists! The average speed on this long stretch would probably be around 35mph. There are also many stop signs along the route and several of the intersections are photo-enforced, so don't plan on coasting through a yellow/red!
Fast forward a bit. Once we're on the 163-S and we are taking the Friar's Rd. exit, please be cautious once again. This is one of this exits where right as you are getting off, there will be people merging onto the freeway right in front of you. So be courteous and don't do anything stupid. Take your time and exit. After exiting and going right, you make another right on Frazee, and then you'll the the Hazard Center sign on your right. Make a right turn just before the light. Then drive straight all the way down through the parking lot to the end. There is a Trophy's restaurant right there as well...
Also, I timed the various drives. From Irvine to Oceanside, it was around 40 minutes averaging around 75 mph. The distance is about 45 miles. From Oceanside to Nobel/805-S, it was around 50 minutes, and the distance is roughly 25 miles. Finally, from 805-S to the Hazard Center, it is roughly 10 minutes, and the distance is around 7 miles.
In all, it seems like a really good drive. Hopefully next Saturday will be as nice as it was today. Unfortunately, with nice weather comes a lot of people on the roads. Just be carefull when driving. Watch out for pedestrians, people opening doors, etc. The drive next to the coast is especially nice. Overall it is a simple route. Hopefully no one gets lost!
And for people who are unfamiliar with SD, to get back to the LA area, all you do is take the 163-N, 805-N, and then go up the 5-N. From there hopefully you know what to do.

I'm glad you checked the route. The coast road is simply beautiful to drive. Especially through the Carlsbad and La Jolla area. The last part of the cruise where the cliff sticks out just before you hit what I like to call "Haul @ss up the hill road" also known as N Torrey Pines Blvd is an amazing view. I can't wait till next weekend.

I'm actually joining up with the cruise at Spectrum (instead of O'side) since first I'm meeting up with Josh/tripmachine to check out the Crystal Cove meet at 7am. Any other takers on the crystal cove meet? PM me or tripmachine for details if you're interested.
Cheers,
Coco

Food?!?!
Don't know about the rest of yas but food is my destination on this trip - did you say lunch?
In the "non-official" post there was mention of several food spots at Hazard center. Worry not, food is to be found~

I just got a PM about the meeting spot at the Spectrum. I guess I was a bit unclear. I'm not too familiar with the area, but if you are on the 5-South and exit Alton Parkway, you should be able to find the spot relatively easily.
When you exit Alton Way, you will approach Enterprise (I previously said Executive Way...my mistake!). Enterpise comes up immediately when you exit. Take a left turn. Drive forward a few hundred feet. Keep looking to your right and the first chance you have at getting into an OPEN lot, that is where we will be meeting. (The reason I say first open spot is because there is a section that is blocked off since that is only for valet parking).
Here is a map. I can't tell based on the markings which is the exact meeting spot, but if you follow the directions, you should get there no problem. It's one of the two blue/green/red/yellow boxes. As you can see it is right off of the exit, which makes it relatively easy to see (before you even have a chance to doubt yourself, you'll be there!).
If someone is in the Irvine area, please check to make sure this is correct!

That looks good, thanks for the clarification. It should be right next to the parking structure right? I think it should be fairly easy to find that many cars in one spot that early at the spectrum! Drive around for a while and you will find it.

Yep. It's next to a parking struture (hopefully the same one you were referring to). In fact, if you don't turn on Enterprise and look straight ahead and to your left, there should be a parking structure right there. But you're right, we should be fairly easy to spot given that we're all going to be gathering that early

I'm going to guess and say around 30 or so. Unfortunately, we have only one list so I don't know who is meeting in Irvine, Oceanside, or San Diego. Just by quickly looking at the list, probably more than half are from the LA/OC area, but not everyone is going to show up. So I figure we're going to have around 30ish.
Go ahead and solicit this on g35driver

Here, maybe linking to your thread may help.
LA ----> Irvine
626 ----> Irvine
I thought there were more but I guess I'm wrong. Others, post links to your threads so others know where you're meeting.
PS: Don't be late! If someone in your caravan is late, they'll be driving down solo!
