Default Exhausts that dont sound like rice rockets

Since I can't listen to all the exhuasts before purchasing one Im just checking to see if there are any exhausts to stay away from. Ive looked at Injen and Borla so far, hoping to see a tanabe next. Trying to stay under 1k for the exhuast and get a combo of performanc sound.

NISMO. Sounds just a tad bit more aggessive than stock. Make really good HP without losing anything down low in the rmp range. Sound like a freak of nature when you add a spacer and popcharger when you put pedal to the floor.

And you save your factory warranty.

Chicks love the sound (At least mine does) and scares the crap out of old ladies driving to slow in the left lane.

Actually the good thing in California, (yes there is one thing for auto enthusiasts) is that adding aftermarket parts to your car (as long as they are CARB certified) does not void the warranty. In fact adding a CARB certified twin turbo kit to your car would not immediatly void the warranty. The burden of proof lies with the dealership. Basically they would have to prove that your aftermarket parts are what caused the problem before they could void your warranty. So any kit as long as its CARB certified works. Thanks though. NISMO stuff is just kind of expensive and Im not sure the performance is worth the dollars for NISMO.

I think mine sounds better than sex.

My exhaust: Apex-N1, stainless steel. Hooked up with a JIC Y-Pipe and JWT intake. JWT has a CARB sticker on it with number so it will pass the pissy SMOG inspector. The exhaust is also legal and does not require a CARB sticker as it meets factory OEM replacement part spec for fitment and sound and does not affect or alter any emission part. Same for the Y-pipe, but no inspector would ever know about that part anyways.

I'm selling my APS exhaust. Its pretty quiet and sounds like a porsche 911 or a STi w/ a quiet exhaust. Once again, its pretty quiet, especially w/ stock cats, HFC or a turbo. PM me if ur interested.

Ive got the NISMO exhaust on mine and i love it. It gives it about 5-6 more hp. It is not rice-rocket sounding at all, it sounds like a european sports car... amazing

I have the Apexi N1 system, and believe it or not, and I know I will get flamed for this, but four people have commented on how Ferrari like the sound is. I personally agree, the tone is very Ferrari like, that is to say, it has a similar sound but does not duplicate it. Obviously, our V6 will not sound like a modern Prancing Horse, but I have heard a few V6 Ferraris, and it is similar. No matter how you slice it, whatever exhaust you get, as long as you are happy with it, roll with it.

Draankols right. Whatever you choose is going to be the best. I definetly like the apex n1 or the megaphone. The Megaphone sounds a lot like stock just a bit louder. The N1 has more volume to it with a ferrari like sound.

I have the Invidea G200 with DC sport resonated test pipes. Loud poewrful roar, inpossible to stand next to the car on te Dyno at WOT without ear protection. So definitely not a good choice if you're looking for a quiet exhaust.

Well if you listen to my Apex exhaust you can judge for yourself. My reply post up a couple levels has video links to watch and listen!

And yes, many "average non-car-nut" people have said it sounds like a Ferarri to them. I don't think it's dead on but it's definitely in the same "genre" of sounds. Just give the videos a listen.

And if you just want a slightly more aggressive stock sound the Nismo is definitely a good choice.

I love the way the Apex growls but it is not anywhere near "too loud". It's not like some of those others where, yeah, you need to cover your ears. Crusing around town it gives a nice smooth "brooooom" sound. Then rip it past 4k and that's the F1 roar stuff. But as you can hear from my vid on the dyno, it's still not insanely loud.

You must have the older N1 invidia not the g200 True dual. The g200 is the one that is less quieter than the two. I have the g200 with the crawford Hi-Flow cats and it not loud at all. It is a bit louder than stock but not where you will attract attention by the authorities. If I don't open it up then you would think it was stock. however I had the N1 invidia catback and it was stupid loud almost unbearable.

Thanks for the vids. I assume the Apexi n1 with hfc would sound even more ferrari-ish?

I'm leaning towards that but I need somethign with larger tips for my rear apron. I was considering hacking the apexi ones and welding on my own tips--is this possible?

3" isn't big enough? The Apex is stainless steel so I am sure you can "hack" something.
