If you get the Aux input for it, I could install it for you.

Nissan makes one ... aux-niss

its the same as plugging it into a stereo at home. 1/8" minipin (headphone jack) to the imput on the head unit. You'll control your iPod just like normal ... and your stereo is now your headphones.

the quality of doing it like that is not very good though. Unfortunately I dont think there is an adapter for the Z for it to hook up through the data port. Its a pain to control the music from the Ipod while you are driving. If you do hook it up this way Id say get a wireless remote for the Ipod. They arent that expensive

i dont mind controlling the ipod while driving, ill leave it on shuffle with the full list. however, is the quality better than the FM or cassette tape version? if so, then that's good enough for me.

It's a hell of a lot better than the FM or cassete ways of doing it.

weasel, I bet you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between 1/8" minipin and dataport quality. The DACs in any iPod-dataout-setup are likely to be equal or inferior to whats inside the iPod itself, making that a wash and just added cost

There is a better option than the headphone connector Jim. They now have a module that hooks to the factory stereo (at least on my G) that will give you 2 aux. inputs (so you could run video to your nav or something). You can then get the cables that run from that module to the ipod, but not to the headphones. Mine goes to the main nano connector and will charge the nano while it's in the car. I just ran it into the center armrest with enough cable to use it while driving (which isn't a big deal since you start it on a playlist or something then leave it alone) and put it back out of site when leaving the car. I got it done at a shop down here in San Diego (StreetNoyz) for not too much, but if you can get a hookup on the install, parts aren't too much.

Actually I have a tahoe with the Alpine IVA-D300 with Ipod Interface, and my girlfriend has a lexus IS250 with the mini pin aux input. I notice a difference. Part of this has to do with remember to use the EQ settings on the IPOD if you are using a mini pin otherwise the sound output comes out flat. Its not that bad but you would notice a difference. Its certainly better than FM or Cassette though, by a long way.

StreetNoyz contact info:

3450 Kurtz St. Suite A
San Diego, CA 92110
(619) 260-1747

www.streetnoyz.com

Talk to Paul or Skip. I've done a lot of stuff with them so my pricing isn't really relevant but it shouldn't be too much. They do great work and have awesome customer service.
