If you're fully covered, wouldn't your insurance cover you in this matter. Just report it with your insurance company and use the $1250 to cover your deductible and take it to the best body shop you can, not just where you can get the best price.

Since insurance is covering it, might as well get an ings/vertex rear bumper along with a new HKS exhaust since I'm assuming that was damaged as well.

He deserves to get arrested for driving without insurance and a license...illegal and illegal.

Similar thing happened to my girlfriend and me in her civic. It was a tap that damaged the rear bumper but it wasn't too bad. The guy tried to play the guilt card and his wife called me up to ask me "How can you do this to us?"

Make no mistake, despite how bad you might feel about his situation he should not have been driving.

Tough situation to deal with, at the same time it's easy to feel sorry for him and on the other hand your car is all jacked up.

If he paid the deposit and you have all his info, I probably would've done what you did.

No mercy though if he don't pay!

you should also write out a contract that he owes you a certain amount. Also, be sure to get that paper work notarized by someone/office who carries that license.

Good Luck with this. This is the first time that I have heard that the guy actually called YOU to give you an update. Either he is a really honest person or hes a really good scam artist!

Things look good so far, but then again, I'm an overly optimistic person!

Wow, sounds like the guy is actually honest.

Whew!

And on a side note, even if they are driving an unregistered car, are not a US citizen and don't have license or insurance, and have FAKE registration, they STILL won't get arrested.

A friend of mine got rear ended in a brand new (2 day old) Saleen Mustang.

The girl who rear ended him:

1.) Didn't have a license.
2.) Didn't have insurance.
3.) Wasn't a US citizen.
4.) Had FAKE registration for her car.
5.) Attempted to bribe the officer.

All that happened was her car was impounded.

I tried taking pictures of the scene, but her extended family and sisters boyfriend came along and were trying to pick a fight with me if I didn't stop taking pictures of her car. Cop had to tell her to shut up and back off or he'd arrest her for attempted assault.

I'm glad to see things are going good for you!

Awesom, i would still consider it lucky and chalk it up as a lesson learned. Unfortunately, that is the way the real world is these days. No matter where you live.

Glad to hear it worked out.
