You guys are so quick to be defensive for tuners and companies that are already ripping you off for parts related to the 350z . If your tuner is smart like mine they would have you sign a waiver for all work done and be done with it. And I call you out Vick781 put your money where mouth is you littile Bi@*ch. If you really think you can lay hand on me well I will give the oppertunity only if you beat me to the end of the 1/4 mile. The remedy that Im offering is due to a long research paper for school which turned out to work in favor of the consumer.Yes I too can get an illeagal smog for $150 but this is not illeagal so if your smog guy goes down you won't go down with him.
If I'm understanding your offer correctly you are going to turn the state on the vendor/manufacturer... that would be futile for all of us that are into modding in the first place. I keep reading, "The consumer goes free"... or whatever the phrase was... What is the bottom line? Are you offering a legal service that throws manufacturer or vendor under the bus so we can take advantage of a loophole in the state law?
I'm not passing judgment here - just want to understand correctly what you are suggesting.
Sorry to bring this post back from the dead... but, for all those of you who said you guys had hook-ups, anyone want to share some info for shops around the IE/SGV?
Very valiant, but I prefer my local "I'll make it pass for $85" shop.
Of course I haven't needed their service in a long while. I have CARB numbers for every mod on my car that requires it. And I am waiting for JWT to get their CARB number for their TT kit!
Long live trees and green mother Earth--YO!
You may have a long long wait. Do you really think JWT is going to get CARB exempt certification? I think they will have the same issues with the cold start emissions as APS. Once the engine is warmed up on an APS TT car, the emissions are actually cleaner than a stock motor. The problem lies herein with the fact that the catalytic converters cannot burn the exhaust gases on a cold start which results in an unacceptable level of emissions within the CARB guidelines.
I was once a dreamer and used to think any aftermarket Turbo or Twin Turbo would get CARB exemption but after reading posts going all the way back to 2004 about "JWT is working on getting CARB exemption next month" in the thousands of posts...I don't think so at least not in my lifetime.
can someone pm me a pass smog no matter what place please!! Torrance, Los angeles, Alhambra... doesnt matter really where as long as its in the LA area. I need a smog only place. Thanks guys.
I have serveral friends who know friends ... $100 is what you'll pay give or take and that gives you a certification that is good for registration ... just be careful.
+1 on the smog check...can someone PM me a locale? I'm in the OC. My friend needs to pass his civic B18. Kinda new to the area here and would like some info. Thanks all!
