Fine for throwing a lit cigarette out the window in Southern California...
Anyone know what the fine for this is?
I thought it was something like $1000 through $2500 depending on the circumstances/area.
I was just talking to someone about their friend who amazingly got this ticket, she also got the ticket while she was doing 85 ina 65, but the CHP wrote her up for JUST cigarette issue.
She's 'hot' and was wearing a low cut top that day, so more than likely he gave her a break on the speeding for that part of the incident, or I figured it was easier and more profitable for him to cite her for the cig. thing.
Lemme know!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep my eye out for the info.
If it's in the vehicle code, I might be able to find it myself, I was looking around the net and got the usual "inconsistent" info when you try to find something like this.

The minimum fine I've seen posted on the side of the road is around $500.
Personally, I think that fine should be $5k so that people stop doing it. Idiots. If you have a habit so disgusting that you can't keep it in your car, that tells you something.

Seeing as how dry it is in this region, it should be rather hefty. Sure, she didn't mean to toss it out, but her little indiscretion could have caused a lot of damage, and possibly deaths. On top of that, she should have to go out and clean the beaches that got trashed this weekend.

was this on the highway or on the side streets? when i used to smoke, i got a ticket for this too. it ended up costing me 130 dollars with 8 hours of community service. go see a judge, bargain with him, he'll lower your fine and ull have no points on your record. if it was on the highway i think ull be looking at the 1000 fine.

"Why don't you use the ashtray? That's what it's for."
"I dont want to get it DIRTY"
I HATE people that toss them!
Not because I'm some tree huggin lefty, although it is a crappy thing to do, it's that the damn things FLY INTO convertibles, namely MINE! (not my Z, my other car).
I've seen it happen to others too, it's a nightmare. I've also had them peg my front hood or bumper and leave a wonderful ash mark and smack me in the face!!
