so i finally noticed my 07 Z has a bunch of swirls on the hood after looking at it under the moonlight last night. GRRRRR I think it might be my washing mitt. (few months old and not as soft as it used to be) How often do you guys replace your washing mitts?

You need terrycloth towels. You can buy an a**load at costo and just get rid of them as they dirty too much.
Personaly, I gave up on washing my own car. The water I have access to is too hard, so it leaves spots even after drying it. Now I just go to the Melrose Strip Carwash on the weekends and for $11.95 I get a 100% hand wash and those guys do an amazing job.

Wow. 480 pages??? I'd have to take a two week vacation just to read the whole thread. Anyway, yeah, you don't want to reuse your wash mitts or sponges if that's what you use. Dirt gets trapped in and the next time you use it, it leaves swirl marks. This is one reason why I don't take mine to carwashes because they all reuse those red rags for drying the car. Just get a bunch of new ones from Costco, Kmart or 99c store (but stay away from the recycled cotton). My Z is almost 5 yrs old and there's hardly a single swirl mark.
