Scam, the money order will be fake. The idea is you get the money order and think everything is ok. you deposit your money order and the money as available to you the next day. You send the item, then 3 days later, the money order comes back as fradulent... You are out of money and phone.
In some cases, they over pay you, and even ask for a little cash back. You send the item, PLUS cash thinking everything is fine and dandy....then 3-5 business days later the money order comes back and you are out of the product and your own cash.
oh and let me clarify something. Coming from the banking world, just because you deposit a check and the money is available to you the next day, that DOES NOT mean the check has cleared. When a bank gives you next day availability, that is a curteousy. In reality, even local checks drawn off the same federal reserve region, still take between 2-3 business days to process.

If the money order was issued from the same bank then yes. If it is a different bank then there is no 100 percent way to be certain its legit or not.
ex:i go buy a money order from Wells Fargo and send it to someone. The person that i gave the money order to can go to a WellsFargo and cash it and call it safe.
but if the person i sends it to goes to a bank of america, bank of america would not be able to verify it.
