yup, just hooked it up to my pioneer avic d3. if you've got the slim ps2, you can actually find a dc powered adapter to power the ps2 instead of using an inverter. got one off ebay for 10 bucks shipped.

Not a big fan of HKS(used to have it, sounds sh*tty IMO) but its power gains are nice.
Ever since going back to Nismo I've definitely lost a bit of power, especially in high RPMs.
With HKS you definitely won't have cracking problems though.

This game is all about online VS. matches.
I tell you one thing though, the game is VERY technical and not newbie friendly.
