Default Caliper bolt? Is it necessary?

Can someone tell me if this bolt is critical? The wheel shop took it off when they were installing my rims - saying it was not necessary. Opinions please?

Not needed. They put that there so the idiot Nissan mechanics would not rotate the tires!

Its put there to keep smart people from putting the rear wheels on the front... but believe it or not.... still see it done sometimes....

You can take it off... Most aftermarket wheels do not fit over the bolt as well..
