lol I don't think those out of state people have ventured into California. I know "Californian's" are stigmatized as is, but seriously, 72 on a freeway is slow no matter what time of day unless your in traffic. That really sucks. I go 72 to 75 on a normal bases and have cops pass me all the time in my cars. When I'm in the Z I tend to drive a little slower but I'm not scared doing 70 on the freeway since its sort of normal. Don't mind the out of staters...they are just voicing their opinion from their perspective. I feel you brotha...72 is unfair and if you can fight it!

Having lived in a dozen or more states I can state that most states will not put up with the speeds or the traffic of Southern California. Cruising around Seattle, Houston, or Charlotte and the people are complaining about the traffic ... I say what traffic Driving just 5 miles over the limit elsewhere is like doing 30 miles over the limit here.
Here there are only two speed limits on our highways:
1. Stop-and-go bumper-to-bumper .
2. Go-go-go petal-to-the-floor.
In condition one you get only 15-20 miles per hour and in condition two about +20 over the limit so 80 in a 60 and 85 in a 65. I think our original poster got busted for "contempt of cop". According to the cop's claim he was pacing the Z for almost four minutes and the driver didn't show respect by slowing down making a nod to the law ... ticks those cops off. Worse yet it was nearly midnight and the cops don't have much to do that late on a weekday. The cop is saying to himself "why isn't this Z slowing down? Certainly he must see me." But that late on the highway in the dark ... who's looking except my V1.

wow...out of all these posts...only two other people from cali. Maybe you all should not involve yourself since your state might be different. 72 on any intersate in Socal is SLOW. On a normal day EVERYONE is going at least 80. I feel ya though man, I got a ticket a few years back for going 71 on the 5 right outside of pendleton at like 6am.

The laws may be different but cops are pretty much the same. In Texas we go way faster than most states because we have wide open highways. Traffic around here tends to flow about 70-85 on average.

If you read one of my threads, I got pulled over going 49 in a 45. It's all BS. It's all profiling. I feel for Gimpster and I can empathize. $sh-t smells the same no matter if it's in Texas or California. That is all I'm trying to say.
And yes..I've been in your wonderful state more times than I can count with my fingers and toes. I know how it is over there.

Living in Chicago, the speed limit is as fast as the car next to you is going or faster than the car running up your a$$. Going 7 mph over on a freeway is a pretty pathetic ticket in my opinion.

i told myself if i get pulled over 2 more times in my z im going to sell it. lets hope it doesnt happen. sucks gimpster, but i think they were looking for other things so thats why they pulled you over.

They don't **** with us to much here in New Orleans. There are some areas in louisiana though that are known for strictness. LIke In Golden Meadows I got ticketed for 36 in a 35 a few years ago. What is up with these "points" yall are talking about?

Sorry to hear about that tragedy gimp. Guess ya gotta keep one eye on the mirror and one eye on the road.
I was once told by a cop at traffic school that the way to never get another ticket is to be checking your rear view mirror every 30 seconds.

Get a few tickets and your state will explain it to you in a letter. Seriously, each state's points system, if they use it, is different. Texas you get 2 points on your record for every speeding ticket. When you hit 6 you have to pay an extra $100 dollars a year to the state to keep your license. It jacks up your insurance rate for 3 years.

ive got a perfect record, you need to go 80+ that way you only have to watch ahead of you, any cop going 80+ behind you already has something to do.
and im not condoning speeding, but i am condoning not getting tickets, i like having cheap insurance, ill break laws and put other peoples lives in danger if it saves me a buck.
