You'll be fine. Any MT car has to deal with the same thing in stop-and-go bumper-to-bumper traffic (would be a shame to get rid of the Z just because of that).
That being said, I DO have a "commuter car" as well, but it's also MT, so no difference. You'll get used to it.
Having spent 5 years up in the Bay Area, too, the bad spots down here are equivalent to how it is up in NorCal (i.e. like northbound 101 in the evening from Palo Alto to S.F.).
