Lee's Sandwich Ftmfw!!
viet banh mi is the shiet...i might be a lil biased being viet and all...we dont have any lee's sandwiches here in new orleans but we do have our fair share of viet restuarants....gotta love the viet food!!!!!
There's really nothing wrong with Lee's but most of the other smaller bakeries/shops offer sandwiches that are atleast as good or better.
I like some of the smoothies at Lee's as well as their waffles and Deli Manjoo (sort of like a Vietnamese Beard Papa) cream puffs [well, I suppose they're more like freshly baked mini Twinkies].
My current favorite for the sandwiches is Top Baguette on Bolsa near the Asian Garden Mall, in the corazon de Little Saigon. They've got a kick *** lemongrass bbq beef sandwich for under $2. The meat is sort of like Korean bulgogi (probably spelled wrong) or Hawaiian bbq with a subtle hint of lemongrass and it's garnished with crisp cucumber slices and cilantro with just the right amount of French mayonnaise. "Good stuff, Maynard!"
I've only come across one other place that does the bbq beef sandwiches and that was up north.
My goodness, I believe I'm getting hungry.
