Hmmm, damn. Very interesting. So basically, I'm almost there. Well, not to sound cocky, but I know I'll take a stock one on the canyons, but I want to be as fast as one too, ya know.

No, you dont need that much depending on how good of a driver you are and how ur racing him. Ive got 2 buddies with e46 m3's and I take them everytime. I say Intake, plenum, testpipes, exhaust and a tune with a good driver should do the trick. Again, remember that every live senario is diff though. It depends on conditions, drivers, traction, whether or not hes modded, weight, how many ppl are in the car... etc

I roast M3s all the time.

This will get you right on par, not #s wise but on the road and track it will be close.

Intake
exhaust

This will have you start pullin on them and taken um out.

Intake
high flow cats
exhaust
plenum spacer
light weight clutch/flywheel combo

This and anything over it = roast

Intake
headers
test pipes
exhaust
plenum spacer
pulleys
light weight clutch/flywheel combo

This is based on my personal experience with modding an 03 Track. Lets not forget Road & Track published a comparo between an 03 Track, M3, Z06 and 911 Targa back in 03 and the Z, bone stock, beat the Porsche and BMW M3 by a full second around WillowSprings. With this in mind, an 03 doesnt need much modification to take care of business with out question. I cant speak for anything after 04.5.

I think the 07 "z' Might be the only one stock for stock to get the job done... depending on real world scenario. I never thought to compare the e46 and the "Z"...However I sure hope nissan is when they are revising the new "Z" they would need a hefty amount of power to even compare with the 08 m3

Hmmm, i figured it would need more than just intake and exhaust to be up to par. I guess I'll just have to race one soon to actually find out for myself.
