I see nothing wrong with praising good dealerships, repeatedly. 99% of all dealership gives their customer crumby service and deny any mechanical issues. It's a diamond in the rust to find a good dealership that treats their customer well and they should be praised for it.

Uh, Vertex, what does your signature say? You _are_ getting paid to say nice things about WCN. That's what the concept of a "sponsor" is. They give you a discount beyond that normally available, you are happy happy joy joy and say nice things.

Or am I missing some fundamental point here?

Yes, you are missing the fundamental point here. Discounts are different than getting paid to post. I don't get paid per positive post on this forum... I get ZERO. I don't HAVE TO say nice things about my sponsors. I chose to do it because I believe in the product they sell. I approached all my sponsors by myself. My car has only been sponsored in the last two weeks, so anything I posted before that it came from a personal experience, not because I was paid to post a positive response. I haven't started any recent threads for the sake of this dealership is better than the other dealership... etc.

So to reiterate, just in case you missed it... I am not getting paid to say nice things about WCN. Their work speaks for itself.

LOL welcome to "Rick's nightmare." I used to always have to explain myself when there was some a-hole that chimed in saying that my opinion was null and void just because of a "sponsorship." Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Wow Rick, is this what I have to look forward too? This sponsorship thing is new to me and I don't really know what the unspoken rules are. I'd like to get your feedback one of these days... maybe when you get back from your trip this weekend.

I thought you might respond this way. It's ok man, don't take it personally, but you're wrong. Discount = compensation (which is one of those big words for "paid"). Dealer wouldn't give you the comp unless it expected you to be nice. Sure, you may not have a written contract that says that, but it is what it is.

I like WCN -- I post links to their parts webpage when people are looking for stuff. I'm just saying you shouldn't be naive as to the consideration being exchanged. Each person in your "sponsorship" transaction receives value. We know what you got -- what do you think WCN got?

I hope the rest of your day goes well, though!

I wouldn't say null and void, just should be taken from an informed point of view. I think people like you and Vertex, who have lots of mods and experience, should have your opinions respected. I look forward to your posts. It doesn't mean that everyone should assume that everything you say is completely unbiased. Everything in the world is biased towards one thing or another.

As Zack de la Rocha would say:

Believin' all the lies that they're tellin' ya
Buyin' all the products that they're sellin' ya
They say jump and ya say how high
Ya brain-dead
Ya gotta ****in' bullet in ya head

^^dont make me throw out the KBBQ FTW line! Cause honestly, KBBQ FTMFW! LOL

I have no experience when it comes to sponsorships or anything like that, but in retrospect, how would us enthusiasts be exposed to the new products without advertising? In a way, being sponsored and advertising the vendors product goes both ways. That is the relationship between the sponsored vehicle and the vendor.

None taken, but we're not talking about sponsorships here we're talking about the recent uproar and threads regarding their experiences with the dealerships. My sponsors don't expect anything from me. I'm not obligated to say nice things only. If your thought holds true that discounts= compensation, therefore anyone who has ever bought anything on this forum from a vendor is guilty of getting paid. The vendors here give everybody discounts because they are signed up with my350z. Are they "compensated" no... they get a "discount" off of retail value. If you really want to know, I only get near wholesale from my vendors. Which is not that much better than some of the pricing in the marketplace section anyway. In fact, my car was already put together before I started with sponsorship. I picked up a hub discount from WCN, a steering wheel discount from Vertex USA, a clearbra discount at M1, and nothing from Street Image (Eric and Dru are my friends and I support what they do).

Edited for content.

I respect what you have to say and I agree everyone is biased in this world based on their experiences. I'm biased toward the people I work with because I enjoy working with them and for them. I'm biased who I hang out with because they enjoy the same things that I do.

I'm biased toward my sponsors because they are good, honest, and hard working people like I am.

Maybe I should just stay out of these types of threads.

I'm not naive to the business industry. I'm part owner of my father's insulation company and I'm a business analyst manager by trade with my MBA. So, thanks for looking out on how to deal with a business transaction but I'm sure I can take it from here. I hope you're having a great day also.
You also purchased the gruppe-m intake off my 06 for a great deal you savvy business man you .

Support is what runs companies these days. If dealerships didn't have the support where would they be? It's a shame we have threads that show a dealership refusing service on some cars.

We also have other threads like the ones we have had recently. These threads just prove that honest dealerships do exist. Dealerships who want to actually help their customers instead of ripping them off. Sponsors or not, giving props to a company isn't a bad thing although I understand seeing a lot of it might become a eyesore after a while but we can fix that with some bbq. I'm still curious about that bbq thing.

It's refreshing to hear that there are still good dealerships out there. I am more than willing to support a dealership, loud and proud, if they deserve it. It just seems Socal has the better ones.

I think it's out of control and spills into the vendor threads and the site as a whole. Christ I am on the opposite coast and I hear about it like it's in my backyard!

chill out, cause it's causing friction, which we don't need.

the tuning shops had it for a while and look what happened there: BIG flame wars.

Function:tuned got it
Performance Factory got it
MRC got it
Forged Performance got it
GTM got it

ALL because of their customers feeling the need to poke and prod... well not JUST because of

I like all dealerships... just because performance Nissan went through some troubled times doesn't mean they didn't ever help out the community just like I'm sure WCN might have a bad couple months sometime down the road if half their staff quits or something.

Well how do you think performance nissan got started? Or forged performance? They need to have posts or threads to get things started or else their name will never get out there. If you don't know about a certain dealer then you will never get your vehicle serviced there and that is the point they are trying to make. I don't think anybodies intentions are to badmouth anyone here. I do however notice that it got a bit out of hand where every thread involved either/or dealership. lol
