The law is you can open carry an unloaded weapon as long as it is holstered to your belt in plain sight. It CANNOT be conceiled. Then you are allowed to keep 2 10 round limited LOADED MAGAZINES holstered to your opposite hip or in your pocket. So you cannot walk around with it loaded, but as soon as you feel threatened, to protect yourself your are allowed to load it right there on the spot.

alot of that has to do with people not knowing their rights, and people like me who are just too scared to do it regardless if it's legal or not. lol, last thing i want is a cop to roll up and get trigger happy on me.

exactly.. it might be more commonplace in other states but in cali you would SO get rolled on by the PD if you had a gun on your hip.... hell i bet half the cops don't even know the law or don't give a flying f*ck.

You and your friends were very wise to ignore these tiny minded fools. I too believe that they will eventually be forced to pay back for their transgressions. To those of you sporting a gun to frighten your adversaries, this is just a further escalation of the event. You are much wiser to do as the OP and his friend did, and ignore. So...you have you unloaded weapon on one hip and your clips on the other. Someone offends you and you turn to expose the fact that you are carrying. You offender now exposes that he is carrying. Is he complying with the law and unloaded as you are, or is he about to drop your @ss. If you both have your clips on the other hip, do we now have a wild west show to see who can load their clip, bring a round in the chamber and fire first? Be above all of this and follow the example of the OP. Sure he was upset, as would we all be, but he and his friends are alive and well....as are their futures.

I see the reasoning in your post, however I would still have to disagree with you. I feel that it is this mentality that *bad guys* have gotten so carried away with crimes and people have gotten so careless with acting foolish in public. Yes, maybe the situation will escalate, however maybe not. Maybe next time these guys will think twice before running their mouths, and will maybe share their experiance with their other non intelligent friends who will also think twice before they do something dumb. And also, like i said, do not use your weapon to threaten. However, if these guys were walking behind his friends and the OP followed the law by leaving his weapon conceiled, do you think these guys would have said anything to begin with? I'm willing to bet they would not have. But anyways, i'm not trying to argue with you, just giving another opinion on alternative outcome of yours.

honestly the best thing to do is just to be racist against yourself back at them. one time this white kid was talking on asians, saying ****** this ****** that, asians this blah blah blah, he didnt reallize that i was the only asian amongst the huge group of friends and also didnt reallize that they were all with me, so i turn around and say "yea i know huh ****n asian's i hate them" he starts to laugh and gets in my face and says, "oh you think your funny *****?" and starts to try to push me around, next thing in the corner of my eye i see my buddy get out of his char and folds it and them i see this guy getting cracked with a metal folding chair by one of my white friends that doesnt put up with bs like this especially when everyone is trying to have a good time. he cracks him about 3 times with the chair and the dude is against a wall where his whole head is scraping against the side of the house. i sat down in my chair smoking my cigarette while a group of buddies are stomping him out. after it all calmed down i asked him if he was done talking and he apologized. i shook his hand and gave him a boost up off the ground. some people just need to be taught.

this was back in high school where our problems seemed to always be solved with violence. it wasnt the best way to solve the issue, but it just kind of happened.

I use to go to PB when I was in college (didn't really witness any racism), but nowadays I try to avoid it. It's mostly a sausage fest of drunken frat boys and young marines. Nothing against them, but too rowdy for my tastes.

The only explicit occurence of racism was a few months ago. A group of black guys were walking down the street and minding their own business, when an older caucasian guy just passed by. He waited until he was across the street to turn around yell, "F**ken N***rS!!!!"

The black guys just shrugged it off and kept walking.

The only other time I heard of anything down there was that shooting recently. Some Asian kid got pushed, pulled out a gun and was like "Who pushed me?" then put a bullet in someone. The "victim" survived I believe.

Thanks for all the responses. My roommate said he heard all the same kind of **** when he was growing up in Idaho and he's used to it.

He's really quiet but he works out like crazy and is pretty huge. He's the Iranian looking one.

My other friend, the blatantly black one ha, said he didn't hear it. He said he was waaaaasted. I'm not sure if he's being truthful or if it scared the crap out of him.

I was ready for anything. If contact was made, I would've gone outright ruthless.

It would've been priceless if the San Diego Chargers were walking out of a bar at the exact time. (well, they'd def kick these guys' as*es!)

that's horrible to hear. luckily here in hawaii there's such a diverse mixture of races that i wasn't aware of such hate in certain areas of the mainland like that till i was older. but that's not to say we don't have our stereotypes haha but it's not the sort of blatant hate that guy showed you and your friends on the strip. good thing on not retaliating against his words..
