So I was driving my SS Z up the I-5 from San Diego to visit my folks up in Los Angeles... i was minding my own business, listening to Mr. Brightside by The Killers, and wearing my fake oakleys i bought from Malaysia... when BAM!! a giant piece of WOOD flew from the freeway and hit my driver side with so much force that it scratched my headlight, fender, and took out my side mirror. I was like WTF??

so... i was pretty pissed about that. Luckily, there was a Nissan Dealership (Tustin) a few exits down so i decided to head on over there and see how much the "damage" would be. I pulled in and quickly got compliments on my NiSMO spoiler by the people that worked there... little did they know that my whole driver side was F'd up. So i ran into the parts store and asked how much a side mirror would cost. The specialist ran the numbers and gave me an estimate of 260 bucks... well i don't quite remember the exact number but it was around there. I agreed to pay but they didn't have one in stock... =( He then called another Nissan Dealership and was able to point me on the right direction... So I headed over to the Nissan Dealership in Irvine and picked up to pick up the part. The specialist there told me that they have one... but it's RED. Red? Oh my... so i was stuck with a predicament. Wait about a week to get a Silverstone side mirror, or suck it up and grab this red one. Well... i couldn't be driving around without a side mirror in california... plus my Z sticks out of the crowd (especially from cops) ::sigh:: and i definitely don't want to get pulled over for dumb reasons... so after flirting with the hot cashier for 15 minutes, i bought the red one.

Not too shabby... i got it for half the price since it was red... so at least i saved a lil money... i remember going to the Shine BBQ with that red side mirror... i got mad jokes about it being "JDM". But i walked... i walked hard.
As soon as i got back to San Diego, i explained to my friend (who owns an STI) what had happened and we set out on a mission to paint my side mirrors. Unfortunately, we can't find "SILVERSTONE" paint and i didn't want to risk getting something "off"... so i decided on BLACK. Not your ordinary black... the black you use to paint your outdoor grills... you know, the stuff you BBQ on... ::ahem::

I started by taking out the panels and dislodging the side mirrors and handed them over to the STI guy for paint prepping. He finished rather quickly and then aske me to take a picture of his "Jesus Christ Turbo" shirt... random

right...

after taking off all the panels, i checked on the status of the side mirrors...

taped, sanded and primed... oh la la.
after about 20 minutes, finishing a bag of doritos, and listening to this asian washed white guy's trance music... we started applying the black.

whoa. cool. pro-fession-NAL...

DONE! so now we just waited for both of them to dry...

of course my dumbass took a picture of the passenger side... but that's pretty much how the other side looks as well. looks good, eh?
well what have i learned from this... The I-5 is gay. Hot girls work at Nissan. How to take out my door panels. And it's good to have friends to help you out with car shiz... (especially when you make em do all the work ::devilish grin:
Lemme know what you think of them... i hope you enjoyed wasting your life reading this as much as i did typing it up =)

ENJOY and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
