I'd really like to tint the windows on my MB '07... but I don't want that two tone look with dark small windows and hatch glass and light or untinted driver and passenger windows. In a perfect world I'd go 20% all the way around... but I already don't run a front plate and I hate being hassled by the CHP and/or the locals.

Soooo... how many of you have been pulled over for illegal tint? Did you get pulled specifically for that or did they add it onto a moving violation? Did it lead to them citing you for anything else (loud exhaust, stereo, modified suspension, etc.)?

this has been explained to death. but ive had my tint on my front windows for 2+ years and have never been pulled over. i also do not have a front plate. just roll your windows down whenever you see the cops.

Anyways I've got my tint up for about 2 months, havnt got cited. Cops dont even look at me when they pass me, but i still roll down my windows about 1/4

 

i was pulled over on the 15 north by the 91 by chp about 10 months ago. he said he saw my tinted windows and then he heard my exhaust. He gave me a ticket so i took the tint and my test pipes off but kept my exhaust on. i had limo on the back and one shade below limo an the front ones. i also got pulled over in temecula for no front plates. so now i got front plates on, no test pipes and no tint.

 

I drive around Long beach & Buena Park all the time, havent had any complaints yet. Also driven by many cops with windows up... nothing yet..

 

yes, any kind of non factory tint is illegal in California...make sure if you do get tint...that your tint shop offers "tint insurance"...basically if you get ticketed they will remove the tint and replace it for free once you get it signed off....it has already paid for itself in my case

 

How much is that? There is one legal tint but its like 75%....lol

in texas its 35% legal..

but i am guilty got one ticket for tint, my other car not the Z has 4% tint all around. looks damm sexy on a black car with gun metal wheels!

I was 20% all around and didn't get hassled for awhile(9 months). I would even drive right by cops and they wouldn't do anything. Then out of the blue a cops that was 2 cars behind me pulles me over just for the tint. So I had it removed, had the ticket signed off and then put 5% tint on al the way around. I drove like that for about a year and then I moved out of state. I think it depends on where your at and if the officer wants to be a *****.

I also have been pulled over for speeding and they didn't say anything about the tint.

 

if I recall it was an additional $150...but like i said if you get popped they will replace your tint for free...and I was cited for tint and no front license plate a few months back...tint went back on days after I got the ticket signed off for free!

just got cited last week...and yea they pulled me over specifically for the tint...bastards...i even had them rolled down but they pulled me over because they figured i had tinted windows...they were right and i got sited...what a gyp...but other than that...i ran with tinted windows for about 2 years without a hassle...its just luck of the draw i guess

 

just got cited yesterday night for not signaling 100ft before the light signal instead i did it at 90ft which i found BS and for tint... im guessing there doing this because of the quota for the end of month but mann thats a BS ticket i think and this is in Cerritos and 2 days before that i got a ticket put on my driver side window glued on for not having a front license plate in Buena Park in front of my gfs house... this is getting ridiculous honestly

 

I Just Got Pulled Over..

 

I usually just roll down my windows when I see a cop.

I got pulled over 3 days after putting on 15% while trying to roll it down though, I guess it was too obvious lol.

yeah I got pulled over for my limo tints in LA - $10 fix it ticket, but I'm having them put right back on when a get a chance...just ride w your windows down and develop a good relationship w your tint shop i guess.
