It is true - lots of deaths on Angeles Crest. However, most are of the two-wheeled variety. Weekend mornings on the Crest used to be like an AMA Superbike race, and the resulting crashes kept rescue crews busy. There used to be a collection box at Newcomb's Ranch to help pay for emergency evacuation services - don't know if it's still there.

In recent years, the CHP has really cracked down on speeding, to the extent that they chased a lot of the cool cars away. You used to see everything from Ford RS200s to Audi Sport Quattros up there. Be very careful of CHP on weekend days. They have a zero-tolerance policy.

It is a great road, though, in addition to Angeles Forest and Upper Big Tujunga. Definitely faster than a lot of the Malibu-area roads, but with a good rhythm to it. There are lots of rocks, especially as you get into the altitudes that normally see snow in the winter. Definitely worth a try if you've not been on it before.

 

Anybody have an address for that Starbucks. I like to let the French chick inside my car tell me where to go (nav in French is funny to me for some reason)

I'm not going to be able to make the late July meet at Angeles Crest. This month is really whacked for me.

So, I hope this Saturdays run becomes a good turn out. I know the canyons will be fun. Dukes is very cool. I'm going to have to give them a call tomorrow and see what we can do about the parking situation.

Where exactly are we playing poker afterwards? It sort of sounded like Sean was offering up his pad. While I like that option, I was kind of hoping to merge this run into a club night too. Guess that depends upon the ladies. Maybe we can do all of the above?
