Default ipod with stock radio question... has anyone done it?

im looking to integrate an ipod with the stock radio, now i know there are some kits out there that charge and play ipods through the stock radio, and you can use the steering wheel controls too. my question is has anyone done this? if so where can i get it installed and how much did it cost for the kit and installation?

I asked around many shops and stores (Best buy...), all they had were kits that transmit through the antenna! They told me that I needed an after market stereo if I wanted to use the interface.
For now, I bought a kit and have the Fm transmitter running directly through my antenna, that guarantees better sound quality.

yeah i know about the fm transmitter thing, but i havent had much luck with them, occasionally it gets too much static. my friend just got one of the ipod kits installed on his TSX with a stock radio, and he got that kit installed where it charges your ipod and plays through the radio instead of antenna. im trying to find it and see if anyone has done it.

If you just want to use your ipod with your stock radio and not through the antenna, go buy the usa spec ipod converter. It plugs in with the stock wiring harness. I had it on my non bose HU. I got mine from Al & Eds for $60 without the ipod charger.

Best Buy and Circuit City told me it wasn't possible.
I was gonna use the JVC converter.

and this is a do it yourself job no problem? how was the sound quality? and did you have to drill any holes for the wiring to the ipod?

I got mine for $60 because my first trip there, one of the tech's sold me a used ipod converter for $40 (which wasnt gaurenteed to work). I later went home and installed it to find out it wasnt working. So i brought my car back to them to show them it wasnt working and so i guess he felt bad so he just made me pay $20 for the usa spec.
