i am currently running a 4 point kirk racing cage and i was wondering if it is illegal? I would assume that the authorities would have "common sense" to know it is trying to make your car safer but then again i know how they could twist stories and accuse one of being a "street racer" which i refuse to be a part of...
i know of all the stories of dumb *** punk kid drivers getting in accidents killing innocent people is bring heat on the import and tuning community....
ive heard CHP tell my brother because they work out at the gym he works at that ANY modifications other than stock are illegal but then again thats CHP being CHP....
has anyone been pulled over and sweated for their cage or is there a clause somewhere that states that it is or not illegal... i really dont want to tint my car but it may be a possibility in the near future besides the heat and i just dont want unwanted attention which i can avoid...
i do admit i cant really see much from my rear view mirror with this huge "X & / " brace taking up like 70%
thanks again

that makes sense bro... good looking out, are you bolt in cage as well?
i believe they can cite you for something to the effect of "obstuction of view" but i think you have to be driving like an *** to get attention for a cage like that anyways.

thats what im worried about because the "X & / " braces from the kirk racing 4 point really make it hard to see and i cant hide that fact...lol
but i drive pretty safe though 1 ticket in 7 years... and that ticket was in my moms car

i also heard about the "obstuction of view", and also heard you cant have it because what if theres an emergency, you wont get out quick enough.
i guess maybe they can try to use the off road only on you too.?

Obstruction of view is BS as long as the roll bar stays behind your head and does not obstruct your view out of the front drive/passanger side windows or windshield. We can legally tint our rear windows as dark as we want... Even paint them black, so there is no way a roll bar like what cheston and ben have could obstruct more then painting your rear glass black.

If you've seen the Muellerized Evolution wreck video at Big Willow, you'd see why driving a car with a full cage and no helmet is a baaad idea.

I used to have the rear of my civic hatchback gutted with an autopower 4pt roll bar. Ive gotten pulled over plenty of times and ive never had the police even mention anything about the cage.
