Well, I got ticketed for my RS*R for the last time, so I've decided to switch to a more quieter exhaust.

I just don't want to run into this problem again with the Nismo. Has anyone had any problems with the Nismo exhaust in SoCal?

 

explain to a judge its factory upgrade and you shouldn't have any problems. That's if the cop still cites you for nismo exhaust.

 

For the op, the only 2 exhausts that you will never run into cop problems with is the Nismo or the Borla with no other exhaust mods to them.
They are both extremely quiet.

 

I had Nismo exhaust on my car and I've never had any problems with cops. I know one of my friends got into an argument with a cop about it and the stupid cop still gave him a ticket! Some cops just haven't got a clue about cars. At court he made the cop look stupid in front of the judge and then the cop ended up losing his cool, LOL!
Anyways, I now have a Stillen Dual Exhaust that is way louder than my Nismo and cops do look over at my car, but that's all they do...

 

nismo you should be fine it looks pretty stock from the rear

any type of barrel or cylinder exhaust is asking for trouble..

 

my fast intentions looks pretty stock...and it is quiet as **** below 3k rpm

 

I have HFC mated with nismo, and i consider it to be pretty loud. Never had any problems though...

I think it all depends on how you drive. I'm pretty sure if I gunned it to 4k on every shift, a cop would hassle me for the exhaust. But honestly, you can really control the sound/loudness of the nismo as long as you're easy on the pedal. Essentially, if you keep at a moderate throttle, the nismo is pretty quiet.

if it's just the nismo with no other exhaust mods, you won't have a problem.. it's not loud at all unless you want it to be. i've had it for a year or year and half and cops don't even look twice. plus if they give you **** you can explain that it's a factory upgrade.. nismo = nissan!

 

 

When I was in court paying for a equipment violation NON Z Related the guy in front of me got a MODIFIED EXHAUST citation. According to the paperwork he had and what he told me any Exhaust citation has to go to a Smog Referee and not just the local CHP to sign it off.

i haven't seen any bikes be cited for loudness at all.....there's this guy i used to live next to that had a harley.....and you could hear that thing easily from almost 1/2 a mile away.....go figure....

just got harassed yesterday for my nismo exhaust. but i have jic y pipe and test pipes so thats probably encouraged it. and then once in a while when a cop has someone pulled over and i pass them they always turn their head :/
