.75 for regular (1986) ... then it jumped to over a $1 in 1988. It was killing me to fill up for $20 a week.
1962 Galaxie 500 with a 352 V8, that I subsequently blew and replaced with a 390 bored .40 over.
Now I am simply being tortured.

less than 80 cents/gallon for leaded at 76(union) in 1986, but who cared?
10 bucks was almost enough to fill up my first car, 1970 Chevy Malibu 350 v-8...
$60 plus now to fill up my z
I'm just glad I don't commute to work in my car.

California most likely. I was in North Carolina a couple of years ago and they were complaining about $1.35 gas... we were at $2.50 or something.
Cali is always at least .50 over the national average.

As I recall, the price when I started driving during 1959 was about $.20 per gallon. When there were gas wars, the price dropped to about $.15 per gallon. I had an Austin Healey Sprite with an 8.5 gallon tank and it never took more than $2.00 to fill the tank. Of course, I was working for $.50 an hour at that time so everything is relative. The real jump in gas prices started in 1973 after the Arab oil embargo. I suspect we are going to be paying $5.00 a gallon on average in the very near future.
