Default XBox 360 Repair Shop?

I'm looking for a local shop that can fix my broke-a$$ Xbox 360 (It's not the Red Ring of Death error). I can't ship it to MS for "other reasons". I'm open to recommended online places only if needed, but there's gotta be a shop in the 949/714/626 area right?

Well my friend that sold it to me modded it. Doesn't that void the MS warranty?

kinda ya. Specially if the system was banned. Look on craigslist. There's a few people who fix systems like flashing.

Or just buy one at Costco and swap it out.

Youtube has a fair amount of self-fix videos if you want to try to DIY.

I thought about it, but since I don't really know the source of the problem, I would rather get it fixed than screwing it up more for someone else to fix. It also seems like most of the vids are geared toward fixing the red ring of death or how to mod it.

The theory around the RRoD I've seen are that the glue that holds the heat sink to the processor fails. This causes the heat sink to become less efficient therefore allowing the processor to overheat... causing the RRoD.

The fixes are typically to get a better mating between the heat sink and processor.

Not sure that helps you, but that's how I understand it.

I don't think I have the RRoD error though. I don't get the red LEDs, but my system does lock up.
