Aikido is a manifestation of a way to reorder the world of humanity as though everyone were of one family. Its purpose is to build a paradise right here on earth.
Aikido is nothing but an expression of the spirit of Love for all living things.
It is important not to be concerned with thoughts of victory and defeat. Rather, you should let the ki of your thoughts and feelings blend with the Universal.
Aikido is not an art to fight with enemies and defeat them. It is a way to lead all human beings to live in harmony with each other as though everyone were one family. The secret of aikido is to make yourself become one with the universe and to go along with its natural movements. One who has attained this secret holds the universe in him/herself and can say, "I am the universe."
If anyone tries to fight me, it means that s/he is going to break harmony with the universe, because I am the universe. At the instant when s/he conceives the desire to fight with me, s/he is defeated.
Nonresistance is one of the principles of aikido. Because there is no resistance, you have won before even starting. People whose minds are evil or who enjoy fighting are defeated without a fight.
The secret of aikido is to cultivate a spirit of loving protection for all things.
I do not think badly of others when they treat me unkindly. Rather, I feel gratitude towards them for giving me the opportunity to train myself to handle adversity.
You should realize what the universe is and what you are yourself. To know yourself is to know the universe.

now go and sit through a Aikido class and tell me how much of what you just posted that you saw lolz... let me tell you what Aikido IS to give you a better idea...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0Ooffw2R29c
this IS aikido... i can show you better then tell you my friend.
i think the the EXPLANATION of Aikido better describes the MENTAL part and gives order to meditation very well... but on the other hand just sounds good on paper. it is a very poetic way to describe such a powerful art that it leaves out a few key words, OWNAGE for example will not be found in the explanation or description of Aikido but that is exactly what the physical side of the art teaches
i would invite anyone on this board to go and sit through a Aikido Jujitsu class. it will be love at first site. but keep in mind, sitting through the class and Participating in the class can prove to be 2 different things

I have already went and checked out the class and spoke with the sensei but im not too sure if i like the training methods. i am VERY traditional when it comes to my martial arts and this class seems altered in a way but still a decent class nevertheless. i think only because this class is just Aikido and not Aikido Jujitsu. im still searching for a actual Aikido Jujitsu class some where local. if you find a class please let me know. i have been hunting google and yahoo locals but not many results. im going to keep looking tho. i will keep you posted on my findings...

I'll definitely keep an eye out for you. Do the same for me, I wanna check out aikido jujitsu also.
but rgr that, i will keep a look out. not saying that race matters so much but i would prefer a japanese sensei as well... they tend to be more STRICT. i know this for a fact. if you dont go home feeling like a idiot at least 3 times a week you are NOT learning a thing, trust me
BTW where are you located?
