I get this feeling that they're only doing this not only to prevent accidents, but also to boost sales in the bluetooth/electronics industry. Sooner or later, they're going to ban these bluetooth things as well.

I just answer the phone and put it on speaker, and place it on my lap. Not too bad?

I wonder how the consumer electronics lobby played into this decision.

i already got a stupid ticket for being on the phone. i got it on the day it came out too. I was picking up my parents from the airport and i pulled over at terminal 3 and made a complete stop. my parents called me to tell me they were about 60 feet away from where i was so i let go of the break(did not gas it at all) went down about 30 feet hung up the phone, stopped, turned off the car, got out and helped my parents load their stuff. The cop(which was a bike cop) walks towards us, calls me over and asks me why was i driving while talking on the phone, he then asks for my license and registration and writes me a ticket. Now the funny thing is that the cop that gave me the ticket wasnt even the one that saw me on the phone. The one that gave me the ticket was busy giving someone else a ticket, it was his stupid partner that saw me.

ya its $20 but they add a bunch of stupid fees on top of it so your total I believe is around $60

edit: correction...

"The laws carry a minimum fine of $20 for the first ticket and $50 for subsequent ones but with court fees tacked on the real cost in Los Angeles County will run about $93 for the first ticket and $201 for the next, according to Superior Court calculations."

Because it was the first day they wouldn't budge. It's cause they have to come out in full force on the first day, or else no one would take the law seriously.

Also you can thank the makers of blue tooth for your ticket, as they are the ones that petitioned the law
