The NEW Glendale/Burbank/Los Angeles meet! 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month
owtkast.. don't worry bro.. I had a friend moved out here from Indiana.. and she loved it... it took time to adjust to a faster pace but she did... if anything, we're all here.
As for high end restaurant, with where you are staying, a drive to hollywood wouldn't hurt... what type of food are you into?

blue fish is alright....
but deathfist hit a damn good resturant... a gem of a place to eat (for sushi at least)!
Yo owtkast if you go to the meet there is a chinese resturant nearby called New Moon. Pretty great place, plates will run you about $20 and is pretty classy for its area (they have another location in LA). Its down the street right next to Mobil gas station. If you go make sure you get Chloe's Shrimp, or Shelby's Beef or Chicken. If you like noodles I die for the Lo Mein (Chiken/beef/shrimp/combo) or theres the classic Chow Mein (again chiken/beef/shrimp/combo). And for appetizers people usually go with Chicken pot stickers, but I love Mu Shu (CHIKEN/SHRIMP). I worked there so I know the menu pretty well, if you have any questions let me know. Its a pretty nice place if you go at night (dinner starts at 5:00) wear something appropriate (i remember when i was smaller before I worked there, I walked in with some Js, basketball shorts and a Jordan Tee and it was a bit awkward; but during lunch goes till 3:30 people walk in with casual wear)

It was either the 240 or the Civic. Lol. The choice was obvious.
