I just got back from there! Jenny and I went over to work a deal on being their Nismo Distributor. What an awesome store. When checking it out, don't forget to go up to the viewing platform for the service dept. Gives you a great perspective. The ribbon cutting is Thursday the 28th, and the party is saturday. Of course you will all be at the Drift Show on Sunday evening!!

A full parking lot at about 4:00PM

Several cars of interest... One Vielside 3 350Z...

The White 260Z with a LT 530 - called a 530Z

Took a lot of pictures outside.

Wen't to go inside.. Politly told to come back today Friday

Hours 11 to 5PM, they are going to adjust hours as time goes on.

Guess I'll go back today, and take more pictures. And get the scoop..

Cheers Amy -

Smile Very Impressive - Filling a void - 1StopShop

Very Impressive..

Friday I entered the New Super AutoBacs..

I meet Carlos, Manager in charge of the Service Bay...

And Anthony A. - Floor Manager - ( I know this guy by reputation. a sterling So Cal racer )

And Met Dan P. who has the best library of how to do books on the second floor. Dan has a back ground of doing ( Hot Chevy Pick-ups and he is one of those 190 MPH plus unlimited racing boat types.. )

Camera's were not permited in the store, but I was asked very politlely to put the camera down, put the camera down.
Actually I had my Samsung V205 phone and took a few pictures later.
Ha !

An impressive one stop shop, from Audio Visual to Big Brake, Intercoolers, Vielside 3 parts in stock, hanging on the wall.

They (Super Autobacs) need to go over to wheel warehouse and Talk to John Sano about their Tire and Wheel line.. as they
have every thing and nothing in the area we like....

I'll get the outside pictures up some time.. I say if you are in the area of 22 Frwy and Beach Blvd. Get off , go north two blocks its on the west side, near Red Robin Resturant..

Cheers Amy -

I meet BlackBeautyZ from the forum, he notice the plates, and I saw John Sano..

this is one heck of a store. It wasn't quite as impressive as the cars in the lot, but it was really cool. The only thing I didn't like was that it seemed to me like it was hard to get someone to help you. Maybe it was just cause the place was new and crowded. It was good to meet Amy, what a nice setup he has in his car!!! I also met a guy with a brickyard that had a C West carbon fiber kit and a custom Apexi exhaust. It looked really nice. I also saw a really nice RX7. Anyone here who gets a chance should definitely go by and take a look.

Went by there Saturday and I was pleasantly disappointed. It was a lot more like a Pep Boys than a legendary JDM accessory shop. A couple of ghetto cars on display out front (except the v-8 240z). The parking lot had more nice cars than on display. Big crowds, but noone was buying. More TSW and Primax wheels than JDM Wheels. A huge SUV section. The bookstore doesnt even carry Options or Hyper Rev! In fact, not a single Japanese publication. But they had a great selection of Chilton and Haynes manuals. Also some nice little items like HKS oil (right next to the castrol and quaker state)

14 bays to install and only two cars getting work done. Everything is full retail pricing. Very limited stock/fitment available for most items it appears. And they don't price match. Expensive labor ($80 to install a hood!) - Good for me and my business, but still somewhat disappointing for the consumer/scene as a whole.

Its a beautiful facility though. I suggest checking it out, sooner rather than later - It may not be around long if they don't change the business model. Perhaps swapping stock with a Japanese location or something. Anyways go check it out if you are local.......

..... and then buy your products from one of the board sponsors for better pricing, selection and customer service.

I meet the G.M. Koichi - San ( Spelling ) He has been out here in US for 12 Years - Preparing...A senior executive.

Yes it is true, like in the book dept.
( Dan's area - Runs Unlimited 200 Mph boats )
there are not the expected Japanese Tuner Magizines..

The Japanese Book Store at Harbor and Baker Costa Mesa - North East Corner has best selection in Japanese Gear Head Books...

But I've meet the Floor Manager Tony A. and the Shop Manager Carlos... And Several of the Floor People, Jullie, and Mr. Nguyen
And these young people are sharp. They don't know every product yet. But with the guide of the senior staff, and a little wrench turning on there own.... Look Out Orange County...

My old friends in Japan, retired Company men, are sending me a profile of AutoBacs. Even though my old Co-workers are retired, or in Government positions.. they spoke well of Super AutoBacs, as they are car lovers also.
My old (dinasour Steel Kansai )company supplies Adheasive. welding, and painting robots to Nissan Shantai.. And most of the steel and aluminum.
Recently acquired ( I believe ) by Nissan during thier remarkable financial turn around. ( Yes I do have a few shares of Nissan U.S. N.A.N.Y. and a few shares JDM Nissan, held in my old companies name.. But nothing to retire on. Ha ! - I do get to vote though...)

Any way guys.. Super AutoBacs may not be what you want yet...
and you guy's in the business, can allways go direct.. I think S.A.B.
will perform... they did it in France, and Taiwan.. Not your free'est spending people on this planet. U.S. should be a gold mine for them.. Where in the U.S. next.... Dallas, New Jersey or somewhere next to you.

It's sort of a Walmart in Japan, how good is that? Ha !
And only three blocks from my home.. If I lose my government job... I'd apply - "Good Morning - Welcome to Walm... Er Super AutoBacs.. " Ha!

Cheers Amer's -

Oh I agree with you 100%. It is a great company and has done much for the sport we are into. They have JGTC cars, sponsor racing series, and bring the consumer a level of accessibility that very few companies can even apporach. Thats top level. I think the disillusion was in hearing all the stories of how extensive the shops were, and what they carried (from colleagues that have been to Japan) It was not what I expected.

I think I was expecting rows of intercoolers and engine parts, every turbo kit under the sun, exclusive, high end JDM tuning house parts, a bookstore with more JDM content - Stuff I had never seen before. It was more like seeing a movie that all your friends rave about, only to think it wasn't all that.

In actuality I think they will do very well in the US - the timing is excellent, the facility is unparallelled, and undoubtedly the magazine articles and advertising they will do will seat them firmly in the market. They will steal the thunder that Pep Boys is losing with the whole Hi Rev tuners campaign. But I don't see them catering to the hardcore racer or enthusiast. That will still be left to the specialty shops and experienced performance consultants.
