Go to walmart and take all the autotrader and real estate things the should last a couple of days, free-fifty
o yea and bring a couple quarters to take all the newspapers

anytime ur not busy, just take a truck/suv...and drive around neighborhoods that are about to have their trash days...always logs/branches/free wood laying out to get picked up

Home Depot always has pallets in the back where they get their shipments. Just gotta break it apart cause the beach doesn't let you take it in pieced together.

75 bucks gets a whole F250 truck beds load in Irvine. They have a firewood lot. not exactly the cheapest, but it lasts for a couple years.

go into lows/home depot, tell them that you are with the YMCA and tell them you are taking a bunch of kids out to a bon fire and if they would like to donate any of their scrap wood from their cuts ...
